Any rumours at all? He was my favourite player when he played for us..

would love to see him in for parra... he'd kill em if comes back...

did he leave for any reason??? coach or team issues at all??

just wonder what are the chances of us getting him...

the rumour, and it seems like much more than a rumour coz the mainstream press is reporting it as fact, is that Jason Smith is talking with Canberra for a final one year deal to see out his career in the NRL for 2005.

He used to be my favourite player as well, but i don't reckon we'd gain much by bringing him back. As far as i am concerned, Canberra can add him to their ex-Eels brigade of Russo, Hodgson, Shifty, Mogg, Ian Hindy, and Brad Drew (who is leaving for England after his usual pattern of 1 good and then 2 bad seasons for a club)...

in my books hes a much better player than firman and co... he was a gun for us and qld...and apperently tearing it up at Hull...

he was also my fav player when he played for us, and i do believe one of the top 3 in the comp in 2000. if he hadn't have gotten suspended i think we might have won it that year.

All the press in the UK implies that he's heading to Canberra. Not sure how he'll go in NRL again after years away, with a few injury spells as well.

I remember getting Smithy's autograph for Dimmy(Madam) in 2000, Simthy was her favourite player too.

If he came back two years ago I'd agree but at 32 and five years out of the NRL means he'll be average at best.
