Mark Munoz is one of the most highly decorated wrestlers in the UFC, NCAA Division I national champ in college and Weidman made him look like a bloke who'd never wrestled before.
I reckon Weidman could be a tough match up for Silva, on paper he's as good a wrestler as Sonnen but the dude has some decent submission skills (competed at the ADCC before entering the UFC)

Good win for Te Huna but jesus did Weidman destroy Munoz. Holy shit. Munoz is awesome but Weidman made him look like a guy lucky to be in the UFC. That finish was sickening! Terrible stopage by rosenthal though... How he let that go on for so long I'll never know. Munoz was out pissing blood ffs

They were saying they wanted someone to stand up for a shot at Silva - Weidman did that. No way they can give Boetsch or Lombard a shot over that. Extremely impressive!
that is until Lombard comes out and destroys Boetsch in 1 round...

i reckon Lombard vs Belfort would be one explosive scrap...

Weidman is a best. How is his standup though? Munoz looked very hesitant to engage on the feet too but apart from that elbow, there wasnt much on show. Weidman having Serra as a coach is the difference IMO...his wrestling and BJJ are so top notch that Silva would not be able to just hold him and weather the storm like he did with Sonnen.

I'd like to see Lombard get past Boetsch and then fight someone like Bisping or Belfort before he gets a shot at Silva.

Silva would blast Weidman out inside 2 rounds at the moment. He doesn't have the power double of sonnen to get it to the ground. Besides weidman's only beaten freaking Munoz and now everyone is giving him the next shot. Getting ahead of himself me thinks. Feed him to silva and watch Andy destroy the kid.

Nate Marquardt won the Strikeforce welterweight title today with a vicious KO victory over Tyrone Woodley. A candidate for KO of the year, was a thing of beauty. The YouTube clips keep getting pulled down but try and watch it if you haven't seen it. This was Woodleys face as a result...nasty gash.

EDIT: Actually try this link http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/82659816/

Was a nasty finish...

But seriously, I don't know how long Strikeforce can last. They have close to a nothing roster (Melendez, Rockhold, Mousasi, Jacare being key exceptions). It will go the way of Pride and just fold.

*Spoiler*

Greg Jackson continues to ruin MMA.

This sport will go backwards if they continue to reward people for running and throwing leg jabs.

Pretty pissed off. Terrible night for the Aussie fighters (Lombard, Ebersole & Perosh).

Utter shit dished up today. The problem is the uneducated judges and the inconsistent scoring system. Fighters have figured out that if they stick and move for 4:40 then hit a take down in the last 20 seconds they will win the round. Constantly see fighters go against their natural fighting style to try and win decisions in big bouts, it's slowly strangling the life out of the sport IMO.

Was shattered to see the Hippo get finished like that. Hope he gets another go on the next Sydney card. Lombard was terrible, had none of his usual dynamism and couldn't make it happen against a much larger opponent. Even so he would have had my scorecard, Boestch did absolutely nothing. Lombard will probably cut to 170.

I personally scored it to Boestch...

The stats tend to agree... He landed more strikes and controlled where the fight was.

Made a bit more impressive given he had a broken foot!

The prelims were f**king awesome.

From what I heard I am glad I missed paying for the main event.

Perosh knockout was awesome, his face screws up, like a nerve got crushed or something.

ohhh jezzz.... who the f**k wants to watch Machida get man handled by JJ again... how f**king stupid would that main event be.

the same goes for Shogun... as far as im concerned Machida and Shogun shouldn't be anywhere near a title shot...

Machida vs Rashad II or Shogun vs Rashad.

personally id like to see Shogun fight Gustafsson and Machida fight Chael Sonnen... as Chael is talking about going up to LHW... we all know Chael has been talking shit about Machida for years.

but bloody hell... i cant believe people are talking up Machida for a title shot on the basis that he had a close first round with JJ... nevermind the fact JJ nearly killed him with the nastiest choke ever seen in the octagon.

Just shows how far in front of everyone Bones is. He destroyed everyone on show today and will do it no worries anytime he has to in the future.

Bader showed he isn't up to hanging with the real guys.
Seriously think Bones would've beaten Bader and Vera both in the same 5 round fight.

Speak for yourself dude, I can't wait to see Machida vs Jones II.

I loved the first encounter, Jones beat him to the punch in that second round and then got the choke. Before that Machida had Jones' number.

We'll see what's changed this time around.

We'll be waiting forever if we're waiting for someone like you described. I'm excited to see Jones vs Machida II, all it takes is one punch

wow... that has to be the most rose tinted version of that fight i have ever seen...

when in reality... Machida spent the first round running away from JJ and never went close to hurting him...

then once JJ got sick of trying to strike with the running man he took down and beat his ass... and then almost took his life with that choke.

the most interesting part of any JJ v Machida II fight will be to see how Joe and Dana try and build Machida up...

Listen, I know you know everything about MMA, you like to make that known on here.

Tell me who had the more significant strikes in that round 1 encounter? Jones landed nothing, Machida got him on the back foot a couple of times.

WTF?? you wanna throw Machida in there on the basis he has a one punch chance??

you may as well throw in James Te Huna...

there are match ups out there for JJ while the LHW division sorts it shit out.... Gustofosson, Phil Davis or Glover Teixeira are the guys they need to get in there...

If Cain beats JDS... than Daniel Cormier has said he is happy to go down to LHW to fight JJ.

JJ can also go up to HW for a fight with a HW contender... just like Anderson Silva did at LHW.

but jezz... you want Machida V JJ II.... how about for the co main event we have Forest Griffin vs Anderson Silva II??
