Weidman is a middleweight not a light heavy weight and is injured anyway.

 you're right I forget who I was gunning for to fight Jones. I think Hendo but that's moot now anyway. Still... Chael hasn't earned anything.

I do want to see Weidman fight Silva though.

It's not riding a hype wave, it's appreciating TOP LEVEL grappling. Maybe that bores you, and that's totally okay, but if it does perhaps MMA isn't the sport you should be watching.

GLORY put on some awesome kickboxing cards you could watch if you want to see some KOs

Been enjoying the sport since '99 along with other combat sports and I've met very few that have. Most only began following it circa '05. But I never try to come across as an expert, I find that sh1t amusing.

MMA has evolve rapidly over the years and so has my expectations. Now when I watch MIXED martial arts I expect to see MIXED martial arts fighters. Maybe Anderson Silva set the bar too high. He and Jones are the only cards I buy. They try to finish the fight wherever the fight may be. Thats what I believe a MMA fighter is. Not someone who tries to take it where they feel most comfortable. The may fight in MMA but they don't fight MMA.

Not everyone can be like Bones and Spider talent-wise, I know that. But being able to handle yourself in every aspect of the fight is how it should be. I could care less about a KO, especially those 30 second ones unless skill and technique is involved usually by laying traps that the average viewer probably doesn't notice. Carwin and JDS never impressed me, Liddell did.

I've said it before, wait another 10 years and there'll be REAL depth and REAL fighters. Right now most men aren't there so why would I believe women are?

In my view if you're good enough to hold someone down and choke them the f**k out like Demian Maia - doing that is an expression of your superiority. Same thing if you're a Chuck Liddell who can stuff an Ortiz double leg and throw heavy leather against the cage. I don't find it more or less valid to win in any particular way. Same thing if you're GSP and you swell someone's forehead up like Quasimodo with 25 minutes of elbows from the guard.

Being a jack of all trades is fine but everyone has their ace card. Silva has his muay thai, Jones has his wrestling pedigree. Why don't you have an issue with the fact that Silva hasn't tried to take down his opponents? He didn't exactly fall into Maia's guard.

Damien Maia is not the champ for a reason - he lost to a superior fighter. Unable to implement his ace card because he lacked the savvy to get past Silva's. Silva has won fights in almost every way possible, so using Maia as an example is stupid.

As I posted earlier "wherever the fight may be". Absolutely no reason why he should perform a takedown or fall into a guard. Its the sole focus of almost every opponent he's faced and he's proven in the past he can be victorious off his back.

You don't have to be dominant in every discipline, just know how to win from wherever you are. Again, that's just me.

I'd just give the fight to Hendricks tbh, let Diaz retire to a life of smoking whatever he pleases

I hope Diaz does lose the fight with GSP and they give it to Hendricks he's making big noise! Unfortunately after the Jones Hendo thing I don't think Dana will want to scrap another card.

Did anyone catch the Lawler vs Koscheck bout? I missed it only caught the last 3 fights. How did Lawler look? Focused and back for good or just a lucky punch?

Main Event
Light Heavyweight Wanderlei Silva vs. Brian Stann

Undercard
Heavyweight Mark Hunt vs. Stefan Struve
Lightweight Takanori Gomi vs. Diego Sanchez
Middleweight Yushin Okami vs. Hector Lombard
Featherweight Mizuto Hirota vs. Rani Yahya
Welterweight Dong Hyun Kim vs. Siyar Bahadurzada

Preliminary Card (Facebook)
Middleweight Riki f**kuda vs. Brad Tavares
Bantamweight Takeya Mizugaki vs. Bryan Caraway
Lightweight Cristiano Marcello vs. Kazuki Tokudome
Bantamweight Alex Caceres vs. Kyung Ho Kang
Welterweight Marcelo Guimaraes vs. Hyun Gyu Lim

Love the Japanese cards. Crowds are so educated and intelligent, the boo birds don't exist over there. Some antipodean fighters in Hunt and Lombard have some big fights on the main card too. One of those events where no one fight stands out particularly to me but I'm interested in all of them literally from top to bottom.

Tough to say really, Koscheck was taking him down at will but he fought to his feet several times.

He won the fight by sprawling on top of Koscheck and hitting him with big shots from a dominant position. Stoppage was a little premature but still a good win for Lawler.

what rubbish!! have you even seen Anderson fight??

He certainly isn't considered 'dangerous everywhere' like your making out.

who exactly has he beaten off his back?? catching Sonnen in a triangle is hardly proving yourself off your back.

He's as one dimensional as anyone else... but that dimension... his striking and his TDD is on another planet.

Anderson isn't highly rated off his back... and people openly mock his black belt.

i mean for f**ks sake... he tapped out to a flying heal hook.

Demian Maia was on another planet to Anderson on the ground... and Anderson quite rightly chose not to f**k with that.

If Maia got him on the ground... it would have been as good as over for him... thankfully for him the fight starts standing... so his amazing TDD kept him safe.

Middleweight I thought for the Wand/Stann fight

Edit: It's LHW, guess it's just to appease Silva, I'd assume Stann will drop back to MW after the fight, regardless of the result

I think its going over your head dude. I never once said he was 'dangerous everywhere' or even implied it. Just merely pointing out how he still manages to collect wins even when out of his comfort zone.

He's been almost everywhere in the cage and fought fighters specializing in various disciplines and recently overcame adversity in the Sonnen fight. Now tell me, is that not the definition of a champion?

If he decided to roll with Maia, would I like his chances? No. But true champions always find a way to win, and thats where I believe Silva is at.

Maia could've subbed him in 2 seconds, Vitor could've caught him with a left, Henderson with a right, but didn't. Neither put themselves in a position to do so, which means they are lacking in something. All this 'but Silva did this, didn't do that' and 'he got his belt from the Noguiera bros lol'. End of the day, if they want his title, its there to be taken. If not, stfu.

And come on now, you know the flying heel hook was an incredibly special type of fluke, and besides, that was 100 years ago. You're straw clutching bro.

Totally agree. I love the card. While not having a major fight on the card, I am very interested in them.

Love seeing Silva fight but Stann will be tough for him, especially at LHW.

Skyscrapper has been in good form of late and should be a tough fight for Hunt. I hope Hunt wins though and gets a push up the ladder a bit.

Okami v Lombard is a great fight. Two contenders. Lombard needs a good win and he can push for a title shot. Okami won't be easy though.

The return of Diego Sanchez is a personal highlight. A huge fan. Always puts on a good fight. Against the Fireball Kid, won't be any different.

Stann by UD
Hunt by TKO
Lombard by TKO.
Sanchez by UD

Stun Gun for the win too, probably UD.

He looked really really bad against Ellenberger, hope he's gotten it together.

My picks are:

Stann TKO
Struve Sub
Lombard TKO
Sanchez UD
Bahadurzada TKO

Sanchez missed weight, he has an hour to lose 2 pounds.

Even if he makes weight shows that he had a rough cut.
