Appeal (spoilers for Queenslanders)

Probably get slammed for suggesting it but if it's good enough for gymnastics and horse racing then we should have it when you consider that our officials are just simply incapable of doing their jobs correctly. You can argue that from the moment of the incorrect ruling that it changes the outcome of the game but then we're getting into philosophy and I don't like mixing philosophy with football.

Anyway the way I see it the coach should have the option of appealing the result of a match by lodging a complaint immediately after the match. In the case of the Tigers vs. Bulldogs game tonight Sheens would appeal the decision to rule the try after the obstruction have a post match meeting with the on field and off field officials, watch over the video, pull out the rule book, have the try overturned and the points removed and the Tigers win. The golden point period would be rendered moot.

Argue all you want but getting the result of the match correctly is far more important and if that was a grand final (and it may have been ours) then you would want the option.

Either way letting that result stand on the back of that call, it's unjust and holding the sport back imo.

This won't go too well. Tigers don't really have any grounds for an appeal, they got robbed but while there was a much higher chance they win if things didn't happen (say around 85%) it's not certain. There's no way the NRL would give the win to Wests. Yeah it sucks it basically ended our season but nothing can be done now that would seem fair.

Technically we had the future Challenge Rule in the other match.

Ref: Held Up

Attacking Team: Bullshit

Ref again: Held Up

Attacking Team: f**king Bullshit

Ref changes mind: Video referee save me!

Defending Team: f**king Bullshit!

Video Ref: Try!

Ref: Try!

It makes it all a political mess though.

Fix the guy in the middle by making the rules less open to interpretation.

Coaches have a big part to play in why we are at this point right now because of their sniping and interfering over the years at the rules.

At the end of the day you have to leave it on the paddock

I was thinking we should come up with something so that the process was simpler, as opposed to making fans wait days after the match has finished to find out who wins.

I mean honestly.... can you imagine..

hahahaha wtf?!?

It wouldn't be days, it would be like half an hour max...

Also I think getting the result right outweighs any argument that you can come up with. It might be uncertain that the Tigers would have gone on to win it but they weren't given the opportunity to. If the Bulldogs were to score another try and get more than that 4 points ahead then the appeal would be rendered moot anyway/

Even though I feel my team was robbed in a pretty similar manner tonight, I don't think this is a good idea.

Can you imagine the result of a GF being changed due to a coach complaint? Their would be a riot.

Would there? Could you imagine the result of a grand final being changed because of a blatantly incorrect call? I would rather the correct decision be made.

I just want the game as pure as possible.

All of us as fans have learnt to cop dud calls over the years.

If it were cheating that would be a different story but incompetence happens

No chance, I think a Captains Challenge would be a better option. Farah would have challenged the try and won. Everybodys happy.

I doubt there really would be. You could only really appeal if you are in the game for a start and honestly I think the coaches have the right to sit down and be explained to that their side lost the game by the rule book. Sheens and the Tigers just have to cop it sweet and wait for Harrigan to tell us all that we were robbed and then what? Suck eggs Tigers?

Which try? The tigers no try and dogs obstruction try both went the video ref and they got it wrong.

Who would be judging the appeal anyhow?

Given how rarely Harrigan admits to the refs being wrong, it couldn't be him. One of the other refs has already made the screw up so he probably won't change his mind. Are the remaining refs likely to disagree?

The rule book. If the rule book isn't capable of providing the answers to 2 coaches and 5 officials then the rule book needs to be used as toilet paper and rewritten.

No. Not after the game. Too many uncertainties in any given game. It would open a massive can of worms. I agree in principle with in game referrals, but then who would you refer a video ref decision to?
