Mate I've never actually seen it as a rule, however I remember numerous talkback/sports shows mention it in the ensuing days. It could be totally wrong and was just Chinese whispers that got out of control. However make no mistake, people like John Gibbs, Matt johns etc were saying it as gospel.

Like I said IF the tigers won the semi in that fashion it would have been a very, very empty feeling. We lost the game when Marshall kicked out on the full with about 7 to go and soward kicked the field goal next set.

hmm yeh i was there. he gave away good field position. the thing is...had beau held onto the ball there was time for a set up tackle then kick.

i found the rules online but it doesnt really refer to the defending team deliberately throwing the ball. it addresses if the attacking team makes a breach.

in all honesty, in those scenarios i would prefer time called off. same for these silly scrum formations where players are stuck bent over till the other team strolls over and locks in.

And yes I still can't believe Ryan kicked the ball! It was third tackle, 30m out and 27 seconds left on the clock. Plenty of time for Marshall/farah/Lui to have a shot at scoring or at worst a shot at field goal.

thats just it, i dont know if at that point theyd be considered the attacking team...as the rules refer to them as the defending team when receiving the ball in goal. but yeh ill leave it up to someone a little more familiar with the rule than myself.

i forget the name of the chaser, but as soon as the ball was thrown out he yelled out the f word lol i thought theyd easily have spread it to the left. the only people back in defense were basically boyd and dean young. the rest of the team were scrambling.

its made for a good rivalry over the years. 05 tigers... 10 dragons... 11 tigers boot us out...12 looks like we both may not make it. i have a healthy animosity toward the tigers, but it also makes the games that much more enjoyable because of the emotional investment hehe.

(and yes ill admit... i was hating on moltzen the other night lol but its all in fun )
