hmm yeh i was there. he gave away good field position. the thing is...had beau held onto the ball there was time for a set up tackle then kick.Mate I've never actually seen it as a rule, however I remember numerous talkback/sports shows mention it in the ensuing days. It could be totally wrong and was just Chinese whispers that got out of control. However make no mistake, people like John Gibbs, Matt johns etc were saying it as gospel.
Like I said IF the tigers won the semi in that fashion it would have been a very, very empty feeling. We lost the game when Marshall kicked out on the full with about 7 to go and soward kicked the field goal next set.
i found the rules online but it doesnt really refer to the defending team deliberately throwing the ball. it addresses if the attacking team makes a breach.
in all honesty, in those scenarios i would prefer time called off. same for these silly scrum formations where players are stuck bent over till the other team strolls over and locks in.
