Apart from a friday night game at a great Union ground in Auckland, and sunday arvo at Mudgee, this weekend has been a resounding victory for everything anti Rugby League.

Regardless of the self serving whinging of some clubs, coaches and the obligatory journalism where sensationalism replaces intellect, this weekend has been a disaster. If this is how we promote our code - by not having it, we are f*cked.

City v Country must stay. So must test footy. And so should the NRL. All should be played - and there should NEVER be a free weekend between the All Stars and Grand Final. Never.

I agree with all that except the point about city v country having to stay.

I enjoy City Country, I'm watching it now infact. It deserves to stay on our rep calendar.

Kinda getting away from the point of the thread but I don't get why people are anti CvC or WCC, etc. I love all these games.

Gurantee the footy next weekend will be twice as better than the slop that would have been dished out this weekend.

They really should have the weekend off and just have the Anzac match on Anzac Day before or on that following weekend.

That way the players can have a break for team bonding purposes.... like Parra could go camping together and regroup. Sandow around the campfire toasting some Bush tucka, Kearney telling some stories about the good days back in Melbourne, Tonga likewise about North Qld, Hayne going streaking through the campground doing the "Hayne Plane"....

Nonsense, they just need to fill the weekend with rep football. Pngvfiji, samoavtonga, England v exiles, France v wales. There's 6 games we could have been enjoying watching this weekend.

Again - I laugh at morons who want England to reorganise its' game to fill in our stupid f*ckups.

It's been awesome. Had so much to accomplish this weekend and was able to do it all because I wasn't distracted by the NRL.

Good to have a breather every once in a while and the next round will have massive crowds as a result.

I hope the ARLC comes to their senses and just schedule byes to accomodate the in-season rep matches.

I'm all for international matches but apart from Anzac test, they should be played in the October-November window.

Wow - I never thought of it that way.

We should have an NRL free weekend every three weeks. That way, you keep your car washed and your lawn mowed.

Brainless f*ckwit!!!!!!!!

I thought you would have stayed at home and watched your old tapes of Glebe v Annandale??

Seriously though, we have to do more to elevate Test Footy in the grand scheme of things.

The Kiwis are now a serious challenger and we really need to package a 3 match series against them just like the old days. Whether that's every year or every two years, who knows.

I'm sick of hearing this May Test match as some sort of Origin lead up.

This was the main write up of the game in the News Limited papers

"DID you see that, NSW fans?
That was Johnathan Thurston and Cooper Cronk seamlessly and efficiently combining for the first time since Darren Lockyer's retirement for their country.
Come Origin I, they will be doing it for Queensland. Probably better.
That was the sobering reality for Blues supporters after Thurston and Cronk combined to shutout New Zealand 20-12 in the Trans-Tasman Test at Eden Park.
"I said to Cooper he went a long way to filling those shoes," Kangaroos coach Tim Sheens said afterwards.
"That was a very good combination. I saw the Queensland selectors and they were smiling as I came off the field. Both boys work well together. That is the combination to go forward with the Australian side."

All about friggin Origin.

It's a TEST MATCH FFS and competitive one at that!!!!

Having the Tests played after Origin will go a long way to stopping this sort of rot.
