I wonder when they talk about investment if they actually mean they are going to financially invest the money and only spend the return or they are going to put the money in the bank on spend it on developing the game ie investing in the game? Nothing I've read from them makes it clear. Ideally you would hope its the former, Yr1 $4mill to spend Yr 2 $8mill yr 3 $12mill. By end of the Tv contract the game could have $200mill in the bank and have a guaranteed $20mill a year to spend on whatever it liked.

It's all under Dave Smith's mattress.

The property bubble could burst any day. Far too risky for the NRL to put its money into something like that.

Blue chip stocks or bank accounts. Nothing riskier than that.

Well f**k me sideways, you just keep topping yourself. Just when i think youve made the stupidest comment possible, you find that f**king cherry just to make it that bit sweeter.

I dont think you understand the concept of an economic bubble.

The bottom line is rugby league is not a for profit business. Surpluses should be given to the many stakeholders within the game that need money. Not stored away doing nothing.

Imo what the nrl should do with the money is absolutely nothing. Sit on it and keep building it up over a few more seasons.

So bush footy is in tip top shape? We have a national reserve grade comp? We have doctors at games who are not employed by clubs and who never consider the teams needs when making a decision on concussions? We have a team in every major city?

People call me stupid but only the stupid would argue that we have nothing to spend money on that would help the game more than just putting money in the bank.

Where the 40m annually should be spent:

$500,000 yearly given to each club specifically to get a national reserve grade comp off the ground.

1 million to have 8 independent doctors on the books

10 million a year put into key regional areas that are doing it tough

The remaining 21 million put directly into Adelaide and Perth to ensure both are in a position to have teams by the end of the current deal.

Reasons for the above:
1) the doctors - because it's the right thing to do.
2) bush footy - improving bush footy would increase the player pool for NRL clubs ensuring more talent gets to the top grade which helps the product
3) national reserve grade - a proper reserve grade would do so much to make players ready for the top grade which would in turn help the product
4) Perth and Adelaide - a real nationwide presence would do wonders for the next tv rights deal

Do the above and in the long term you would make much much much more than 40 million annually. You'd make more than you get from a bank. And money in the bank does nothing to improve the product. The above would make it a much better product to watch.

I guarantee 10 years from now the sport would be in a better place with my plan compared to the "put the money in the bank" plan.

Wow you make it all sound so simple. Never realised running a business was so easy, we should all do it. No risk and guaranteed return according to Bunniesman, what a genius

Were you dropped on your head when you were a baby?
