Nathan Cleary went to Bali last year during bye round

It happens all the time at every club and is not a big deal at all. Players train and play in the toughest comp on the planet and deserve to take time away when they can. They aren't comparable to "standard workers" at all given what they put their bodies and also minds through for our entertainment

Gould is making something out of nothing to stay relevant. The guys is becoming a meme lately

I think we’ll need to agree to disagree. I just don’t think it’s a good look taking off to Bali and increasing the risk of coming back injured, sick or exhausted when their season is on the line. Gives the impression their performance is a lower priority. Plus now there’s the speculation that they might have been distracted on Friday by their respective holidays.

Hopefully at least now it’s been called out in the media they’ll be keen to prove the likes of Gus wrong and will put in against the Titans. Time will tell.

They probably did another 5 shots of strawberry shakes when they read Gus' quotes today.

Joey was pretty fired up about his thoughts on the Bali boys and didn't say much about Ponga..

Footballers need and deserve some rest during the year. I have zero against players having a rest or even a short holiday.
I do have one thing against it though.....going overseas for that rest. For people who don't know, the average footballer is not very bright and lives a bit of a sheltered existence.
As a CEO, I would not give permission for these guys to leave these shores during a footy season. Im not sure how many Knights actually went to Bali...but geez, the potential for footballers, booze and the attractions of Bali is a dangerous combination that will explode in some club's face one day. Getting in trouble in Bali is a completely different proposition to getting in trouble here.
Footballers are risk takers by nature. No way on Earth would I let a player go to a place like Bali mid-season.

Given Bali’s crackdown on antisocial behaviours, the club could have been
smarter and said no. You have to factor in the worst case scenario first.

Resting up locally, having medical checks for injuries etc, reviewing video of games, only light training couple of times a week and a few days of doing nothing but relaxing with family and friends would be my plan for bye week

Great example of inmates running the asylum yet again at our ``social club``, mental midgets playing for & running
the club is there for all to see. Good load of BS in press conference by AOB talking of tailoring bye break to individual's needs, looks like lots of them needed a dose of Bali!

Not that I disagree, but this is a longer season than typical and there's 3 BYE now. I'm sure they'll use the other 2 for that stuff, but 10 weeks in this one may be a good refresher and then use the next BYE for what you've mentioned.

Time will tell. Until then we can all have an opinion on it and they'd be full of pros and cons.

Yeah I think this is correct, it would be a concern if they did it for all 3 byes but very doubtful that is the case. With Origin and all that other stuff coming up it's probably the only chance for any sort of proper break before the end of the season.

This whole thing is a bit of a beat up.

Issue is if enough of them come back wreaked after this bye week due to having too much fun our season will be well and truely over by the time the next 2 roll around. I also find it hard to believe that Best in particular has gone to Bali to rest lol.

Yeah once again no disagreement and being a Knights fan I’m almost expecting that. Something is telling me to give them the benefit of the doubt here.

I'll give you the tip. Bradman Best is not there to sit in the lotus position at the beach for four days.

Chances are there will be no problem. But, knowing footballers, I bet my ass that there will be issues one day with letting a player holiday at Bali mid-season. It is not a matter of if, it is when.

Not that long ago, an off-season incident at Bali landed David Fafita in some pretty hot water. Imagine if the same incident happened this week.

Billy Slater has concerns that the boys will get Bali Belly or some other virus. I think they have the all the hypotheticals covered LOL.

I've had about a dozen close friends and family flying internationally over the last 12 months, and each and every one of them got Covid.

just what I need to read as my family is booking our first holiday in 6 years 🫠
