Completely different. From a very simple starting point;AD is actually funny.

Watch it in order and the sheer brilliance of the show will become apparent.

Give it a go mate and you'll enjoy it. Like Red Bear said, if you give it a good sitting you'll come out a fan.

it is the best thing to happen to television. but you cant have it on while cleaning the house or washing the dishes. you have to sit down and watch. because, for one, there is no canned laughter to tell you whats supposed to be funny. and two many of the jokes are built throughout an episode, and will be lost on you if you dont pay attention. anyone who hasnt seen it go buy it. if you dont like it i will personally reimburse you... somehow

Fair enough I suppose, but what brought on the virtrolic responses was because married with children and 2 and a half men are not the same sort of stuff at all and banding them together in the same cateogory of humour you personally dont like doesnt really make sense, unless you mean you dont like comedy shows in general?

The only reason I brought them up is because another thread has been discussing them - I was just lumping them together, as if I was replying to both threads because they seemed to be to the same tune.. like I said, it was my bad about wording choice.

See Apey, you'll need to see the show to understand the joke.

I believe the reason Arrested Development wasn't succesful was because it was on the wrong channel. The Fox channel was reknown for shows such as The Simpsons and Married...with Children thus the general Fox audience was never going to support a show as complex as Arrested Development and as such it was dropped despite being given three seasons. I believe it should've been on HBO, the home of Curb Your Enthusiasm, where the audience is incredibly patient.

Agree 100%. I'm in America now and I actually jokingly had a go at my mate at work, just sort of asked if watched it.....didnt even know what it is. For shame. It disgusts me that the fate of this show was decided by American viewers.

Ive never actually gotten around to watching it.

Based on the fact that my favourite tv shows of all-time are Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Office (British version of course) does it stand to reason that i would absolutely love Arrested Development?

Yeah it destroys Curb, which I also love. I dont think you'd see many people saying curb is a better show. It also outpoints, imo, the office and seinfeld, although here you may have some differing opinions. If I were to rank them for you: AD, Seinfeld, The Office, Curb......Father Ted, on an unrelated note.

So long story short if those types of shows are your favourite then make room for a new favourtie because AD is it.
