The brutal questions Paul McGregor has to answer

The Great One

Gareth Widdop celebrates try by falconing Tristan Sailor
The Dragons look set to sink to their lowest ever position at the end of a season as a joint venture, with only the last-placed Gold Coast Titans keeping them from collecting the wooden spoon.

If you go back before the merger, this is the worst position from either part of the joint venture since the Illawarra Steelers’ wooden spoon in 1989 and the worst season for a St George team since their second-last finish in 1945.

With such a horrific campaign behind them, serious questions need to be asked about the coach – but most in the media are reticent to point out any specific problems. It is time to get serious and start asking the obvious questions, even if they might make people uncomfortable.

Share
Why are the centres regressing under a coach that was an Australian representative centre?
Just two years ago, Euan Aitken was earmarked as a future Origin star and looking at representative honours. This year he has lost his position as a certain starter in the team and is part of a Dragons right edge that has leaked points all season, including 22 against the last-placed Titans.

Tim Lafai has scored two tries all season and the last time he crossed was in Round 5 when the Dragons thrashed the Bulldogs. Not only that, but he only has one try assist and his decision to constantly rush up in defence – combined with his poor communication to his winger – has let in countless tries.

Paul McGregor was a centre his whole career, so how can he not coach the position he is most familiar with?

Do you know that tries off kicks count for the same amount of points as every other try?
Go back and watch any Dragons post game press conference and you will likely see Paul McGregor utter the phrase “they scored X tries off kicks” as if to imply that this was somehow less of an achievement than the other tries scored.

Yes, tries off kicks can have a bit more of an element of luck involved but you can also minimise this element by doing your job, which is preparing your defence to contain these kicks.

If your team is letting lots of tries in from kicks then you need to fix this in your pre-game preparation, especially if you identify it is a problem that has lasted all season. Pointing out that many of the tries your opposition score come off kicks does not absolve you of this mistake.

Why does every representative player in your team play worse under your coaching?
Let’s not beat around the bush: the Dragons team is stacked with representative players, including five Origin stars, two English internationals and quite a few players from the national squads of smaller countries.

This is quite possibly the most star-studded Dragons team since their 2010 premiership squad. These players can perform on the biggest stage – why can they no longer perform at a club level? The only difference in the equation is the coach and the administration.

Where is the Dragons’ attack?
In the last three weeks, the Dragons have only scored two tries that did not directly come from kicks – ironic considering Paul McGregor’s apparent disdain for this method. Only one of those two tries came from an actual structured set play: Tristan Sailor’s try on debut last weekend.

League
That is one try from an attacking play in 240 minutes of football in a team that includes Gareth Widdop, Ben Hunt and Cameron McInnes in playmaking roles. And even when you include tries from kicks, the team has only scored 38 points total in three weeks, less than what the Tigers put on them this very weekend.

Reports have suggested Mary is putting in long hours at work but where is this time going? Because you certainly cannot see the results of this on the field.

There are many other questions that arise when you look at the Dragons team, such as McGregor’s forward rotations, his attempt to change Tyson Frizell into a middle forward and his ad hoc method of promoting and demoting wingers every week. The Dragons got rid of Steve Price in 2014 due to poor performance but McGregor’s record is not much better.

In two and a half seasons under Steve Price, the Dragons’ average position on the ladder was roughly 11th.

Under Mary’s five and a half seasons, the Dragons’ average position is tenth.

For a coach with so many questions lingering over the team that he built, McGregor seems remarkably immune to criticism.

Paul McGregor facing the axe as St. George Illawarra Dragons coach following horror season

The pressure gauge could be set to claim another coaching casualty, with Dragons coach Paul McGregor on thin ice to remain at the helm of the famous club beyond this season.

The Dragons have had one of the worst campaigns in the club's rich history, despite sitting as pre-season fancies at the start of the year, and will finish the season in 15th spot having won only seven games.

The Dragons board have been outspoken about a review that will be conducted on the club's football department post-season, however it was announced McGregor's position would not be questioned.

However, The Daily Telegraph's Phil Rothfield is reporting that the review is becoming increasingly likely to end McGregor's six-years as head coach of the club.

Appearing on Fox League's Controversy Corner, Rothfield said the calamitous end to this season is likely to be enough for the club's board of directors to decide to part ways with McGregor.

"Paul McGregor has been under pressure for some time, there's been a massive fan backlash," Rothfield said on Monday.

"To this day St George have held back on the pressure, but I had a call today saying there will be a review at the end of the season. It will involve Mary now, whereas (before) it was more around his staff.

"The fact that they will now finish 15th, the fact that they are now allowing teams like the Wests Tigers to put 40 plus points on them, is unacceptable.

"I spoke to Brian Johnson an hour ago and I said I've had mail that Mary McGregor will go after this review. He wouldn't confirm that he was staying, or giving him his 100 percent backing, he said it's all going to come down to the review."

A former club legend who played 124 games for the Illawarra Steelers before becoming the foundational captain of the St. George Illawarra merger, McGregor hasn't quite earned the love from the Dragons fans in his six years as coach.

The Dragons have made only two finals series in that time, a far cry away from the long streaks of success the Red V was once renowned for.

There has been an outcry of anger towards the club from passionate Dragons fans at home games this season about the way the team has traveled.

Rothfield told Fox League's NRL360 he felt these will prove to be the hammer that nailed the final nail in McGregor's coffin.

“A lot of people tipped St George to make the top four and some tipped them to win the premiership,” Rothfield said.

“I think they have had a massive fan backlash on social media and the stories about the Mary McGregor banners.

“I think they are reacting to a bit of fan pressure, but that performance yesterday against the Tigers just added to it.

The two names that have been thrown in the hat to take over from McGregor should he be axed are Roosters assistant Craig Fitzgibbon and former Sharks coach Shane Flanagan, who still remains deregistered by the NRL.

Paul McGregor under pressure to keep Dragons coaching post

Paul McGregor is reportedly under pressure to keep his job at St George Illawarra beyond his side’s final game against the Titans in Round 25.

Veteran journalist Phil Rothfield revealed that McGregor is under increasing pressure to hold onto his post after six seasons and 139 games at the helm.

The Daily Telegraph reported that despite a two-year contract extension earlier this year, officials are resigned to having to make the difficult call after a disastrous season.

“Paul McGregor is in big trouble to keep his job,” Rothfield told NRL 360.

“After the defeat yesterday and the disastrous season.

“I spoke to Dragons chief executive Brian Johnston this evening and he would not confirm that his future is safe.”

The Dragons are set to undergo a review at the end of the season, with McGregor at long odds to survive, according to Rothffield.

“McGregor will be a part of the full review, which would hten go to the board before Christmas.

“There are key powerbrokers at the Dragons, who now have concerns about Mary moving forward even though in April they extended his contract by two years.”

Paul Kent believes the fact the club are undergoing a review leads him to the conclusion that the Dragons are looking for a new coach.

“The old line used to be he has the full support of the board, which you knew when that was uttered that you were a dead man walking,” Kent said.

“Now the moment they say there is going to be a review, the fact that they believe there is a need for a review seems to indicate there is a need for a new coach.”

McGregor to leave Dragons?

Rothfield believes a fan backlash is responsible for the pressure that McGregor is under.

“I think they have had a massive fan backlash on social media and the stories about the Mary Mcgregor banners,” Rothfield said.

“I think they are reacting to a bit of fan pressure, but that performance yesterday against the Tigers just added to it.

“A lot of people tipped St George to make the top four and some tipped them to win the premiership.”

McGregor is reportedly on $600,000-a-season which would force the Dragons to pay out $1.2 million before signing a new coach.

Two names have been mentioned as possible replacements – Sydney Roosters assistant Craig Fitzgibbon and former Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan, who still has to be cleared.

McGregor refused to comment when contacted by the Daily Telegraph.

Ben Ikin questioned whether sacked Knights coach Nathan Brown could be considered as a potential replacement, if McGregor is let go.

“Is it just coincidence that Nathan Brown parts company with the Newcastle Knights, so now all of a sudden there is some urgency at the Dragons?” Ikin said.

Paul McGregor likely to be sacked by Dragons in post-season review: new report
By WWOS staff

Dragons coach Paul McGregor is now likely to be sacked in a post-season review, a new report says.

The Daily Telegraph's Phil Rothfield wrote that despite having been re-signed for two further seasons this year, McGregor was on the chopping block.

The Dragons will finish the season 15th, despite predictions that they would be a finals team with some premiership credentials. It is the St George Illawarra joint venture's worst-ever finish.

McGregor looks set to pay the price despite early expectations that he would survive, with Rothfield writing: "Officials are resigned to having to make the difficult call after a disastrous season."

Roosters assistant coach Craig Fitzgibbon and Cronulla premiership-winning coach Shane Flanagan have been named as possible replacements; though Flanagan would need to be cleared by the NRL after being deregistered.

McGregor is reportedly on $600,000 per season at the Dragons. His team was smashed 42-14 by Wests Tigers on Sunday.

Flanagan won't be cleared by NRL in 2020
  • National Sport News
    r0_0_800_600_w1200_h678_fmax.jpg

The NRL will not allow former Sharks coach Shane Flanagan to coach in the NRL next year.
Former NRL premiership-winning coach Shane Flanagan will not be cleared to return to rugby league in 2020 as uncertainty over Paul McGregor's position gathers pace.

The former Cronulla mentor last week met with NRL CEO Todd Greenberg in the hope of being given the green light to resume his career.

It's understood the NRL have said they will not register a contract with Flanagan next year, although they would not stand in his way if he was offered an opportunity in the English Super League.

Flanagan's case may be reviewed by Rugby League Central at the end of 2020 with a view for a 2021 return.

He is serving time out of the game for communicating with Sharks officials during his 2014 ban over the club's supplements scandal.

Flanagan has reportedly been mentioned by St George Illawarra officials as a potential replacement for McGregor as the Red V face their equal worst-ever season as a joint venture.

McGregor was in April signed to a contract extension which was supposed to keep him at the club until the end of 2021.

But he is suddenly under pressure with the side registering just seven wins, with only Gold Coast below them on the ladder.

Unless they can defeat the Titans on Saturday night they will equal their poorest season performance which came under Steve Price in 2013.

Price was sacked midway through the following year for McGregor.

The Dragons have been the competition's biggest under-performers this year given they boast State of Origin representatives in Ben Hunt, Corey Norman, Tariq Sims, Paul Vaughan and English internationals James Graham and Gareth Widdop.

During McGregor's five full seasons in charge, the club has qualified for the finals on just two occasions - finishing eighth and bowing out in 2015 and reaching the second week last year.

The Dragons have won 65 and lost 72 during McGregor's time in charge for a winning percentage of 47 per cent.

The club has promised to undertake a review of its football department with assistants Ben Hornby and Dean Young reported to be on unsteady ground.

Sydney Roosters assistant Craig Fitzgibbon has also been mentioned as a potential replacement for McGregor given he lives in Wollongong.

The St George Illawarra Dragons will commence their annual review of the football department next week.

Dragons Chief Executive Brian Johnston said that while the club undertakes a review at the end of every year, it will take on added significance given the Dragons' disappointing 2019 campaign.

"Nobody at the club is happy with how the Dragons have performed and that's extended to all our stakeholders including members and supporters," Johnston said.

"We are committed to reviewing all aspects of our football department to ensure improvement in 2020."

Long-term rugby league administrator and former coach Phil Gould has agreed to take part in aspects of this process.

Gould being brought in to assist with review of dismal Dragons

St George Illawarra will bring in Phil Gould to assist with the club's end-of-season review and hope he can help trigger a turnaround akin to the one North Queensland enjoyed after he answered an SOS from the Cowboys nearly a decade ago.

The former Penrith supremo, who sought redundancy from his role with the Panthers earlier this year, will make his first foray back into clubland after agreeing to take part in the review.

St George Illawarra chief executive Brian Johnston previously confirmed the club would undertake a wide-ranging assessment of their entire football operation – and it has now emerged Gould will be a central figure in that work.

Embattled coach Paul McGregor has been under fire from sections of the Dragons’ fan base after a woeful season which will be the Red V’s worst in the history of the joint venture. But McGregor is poised to retain his job at the start of next season.

He signed a two-year extension earlier this year, but the Dragons' season has been blighted by the Jack de Belin drama and long-term injuries to key players such as outgoing captain Gareth Widdop.

While the Dragons are desperate to put the year behind them and at least finish off on a good note against the last-placed Gold Coast on the holiday strip on Saturday night, they have sought Gould's counsel about how to revive the club's on-field fortunes.

Dragons coach Paul McGregor could be sacked by the club in an end-of-season review, a new report says.

"Nobody at the club is happy with how the Dragons have performed and that's extended to all our stakeholders including members and supporters," Johnston said in a statement. "We are committed to reviewing all aspects of our football department to ensure improvement in 2020."

Johnston confirmed Gould would be part of the process.

Second-from-bottom St George Illawarra will only be saved from the wooden spoon by the Titans. They've lost eight of their last nine matches.

Gould often fields offers from NRL clubs about consultancy work, but perhaps had his biggest impact on the Cowboys when delving into their operation in 2010.

Brian Johnston
NSW Origin's most successful coach made recommendations to the club, which would go on to win its first premiership in 2015 after Johnathan Thurston's golden point heroics in the grand final.

It's not the first time St George Illawarra has undertaken a wholesale review of its football department, respected sports administrator Dirk Melton tabling a report after the 2016 season.

McGregor led the Dragons to within one win of the finals the following year before the Red V won their first play-off match since the 2010 grand final 12 months later, a mark they never looked like reaching this time around.

"No one in the football department is enthusiastic with the outcome this year, but you need to get stronger and learn from the experiences," McGregor said before the Gold Coast clash. "We all do that.

"Ladder position won't change, but certainly [on] the occasion we want to go out and play our best football and enjoy the contest. We've got to have the right mental attitude as a team and some self pride in our own performance. We'd like to send our fans out enjoying the last game of the season."

Widdop will play his last game before joining Super League giants Warrington while Jeremy Latimore will retire from the NRL.

Dragons draft in Gould to help with end-of-season review

Phil Gould will begin a review of St George Illawarra football operations next week after being approached by Dragons coach Paul McGregor.

Gould, NSW’s most successful State of Origin coach and a two-time premiership-winning mentor with Canterbury and Penrith, has more than 30 years experience as a coach, administrator and commentator and is considered one of the most knowledgeable people in the game.

He was a guest at the annual Illawarra Rugby League luncheon in Wollongong, which was a roast in honour of McGregor and attended by many of his former team-mates and coaches.

McGregor later asked Gould to help out with St George Illawarra’s annual review of football operations and offer an outsider’s perspective on areas he and the club can improve.

After confirming his interest to Dragons CEO Brian Johnston, Gould will be involved with the review once the team’s season officially ends after Saturday’s match against Gold Coast at Cbus Super Stadium.

“Paul McGregor asked me a couple of weeks ago if I could provide an external set of eyes and ears over the Dragons' end-of-year review process,” Gould said. “I spoke with Brian Johnston this week. Brian, Paul and I will meet again next week after the Dragons' final game.”

Dragons out to honour milestones

While the specific details of Gould’s role are unclear, it is not expected that the review will lead to him taking on a permanent role with St George Illawarra.

Gould has previously been involved in end-of-season reviews at other clubs, most notably at North Queensland where he recommended to the Cowboys in 2010 that Neil Henry should remain as coach and Johnathan Thurston as captain.

“The end-of-year review process, conducted by every NRL club every year, represents part of the process of future planning,” Gould said.

“I’m happy to lend a hand. It's not a paid job. Every year, even during my time at Panthers, I get NRL coaches, assistant coaches, chairmen, CEOs and even players requesting to catch up and have a cup of coffee to talk about life, their football clubs and their careers. I've always been more than happy to help if I can.

“I’m looking forward to speaking with the Dragons club next week.”

Johnston said that while the club undertakes a review at the end of every year, it will have added significance this season given St George Illawarra’s disappointing 2019 campaign.

"Nobody at the club is happy with how the Dragons have performed and that's extended to all our stakeholders including members and supporters," Johnston said.

"We are committed to reviewing all aspects of our football department to ensure improvement in 2020."

There is no suggestion that McGregor’s job is under threat, and he is expected to commence his new two-year contract in 2020, but changes to the club’s coaching staff have been predicted.

A series of changes were made after the 2016 review overseen by a panel comprising former Dragons skipper Mark Coyne, sport scientist Dr Craig Duncan and performance specialists Dirk Melton and Clare Prideaux.

Among their recommendations was that McGregor leave recruitment decisions to St George Illawarra head of pathways Ian Millward so he could focus solely on coaching and the Dragons fell one win short of a finals berth in 2017 before finishing seventh last season after leading the premiership for 18 rounds.

Without the services of key forward Jack de Belin for the entire season due to the ARLC’s no-fault stand-down policy and captain Gareth Widdop for most of it after a shoulder injury, the Dragons have struggled and will finish 15th regardless of the result of Saturday’s match against Gold Coast.

Widdop reflects on Dragons memories

Tyson Frizell (ruptured testicle), James Graham (broken leg), Korbin Sims (broken arm), Corey Norman (fractured cheekbone), Tim Lafai (ankle), Zac Lomax (broken thumb) and Jeremy Latimore (knee) have also spent extended time on the sidelines.

Once the team was no longer in finals reckoning, Tariq Sims underwent surgery for a groin injury he had battled since round three and rookie winger Jason Saab had shoulder surgery, while hooker Cameron McInnes broke his leg in last weekend’s loss to Wests Tigers.

Besides the loss of Widdop (Warrington) and Jeremy Latimore (retiring), the Dragons roster will be largely unchanged in 2020, with the likes of Saab, Tristan Sailor and Jackson Ford expected to feature more regularly in the top team after making their debuts this season.

The club’s Canterbury Cup team are minor premiers and their under-20s are also in the finals of their NSWRL competition.

Paul McGregor and Phil Gould open up on impending Dragons’ season review

St George Illawarra coach Paul McGregor says it wasn’t only his idea to hold an external review of the Dragons’ horror season, with club powerbrokers also keen on the concept.

Rugby league supremo Phil Gould has been called in to sort through the mess which, despite their 24-16 win over Gold Coast on Saturday, resulted in the Dragons’ finishing 15th on the ladder — their lowest ranking as a joint venture.

746005_640x360_large_20190908074108.jpg

Dragons press conference

The review will encompass the Dragons’ football department with pressure on assistant coaches Ben Hornby and Dean Young to keep their jobs.

McGregor was also reportedly facing the axe, but Gould has stated the review has nothing to do with the head coach’s future and that was also backed up by his manager David Riolo.

‘‘I’ve talked to [Dragons chief executive] Brian Johnston and he says that nothing has changed from their point of view since Mary signed his contract,’’ Riolo told the Sun Herald.

‘‘Obviously there is more heat on a coach when you finish 15th.’’

McGregor took over at the Dragons following the sacking of Steve Price in 2014 and currently has a win rate of 47 per cent.

He said Gould isn’t the only person he’s turned to as a sounding board throughout his 137- game NRL coaching career.

Dragons see off Titans

“I’ve got people who I look to for advice — mentors — and there’s three of them,” McGregor said after his side’s win over the Titans.

“I just feel that we needed a full review and we needed an external review. That wasn’t only my thought, it was the club’s thought.

“When teams don’t finish in the top eight and you finish in the bottom eight, your review’s a lot deeper. Last year we had a review but it was done internally.

“We all thought this one needs to be done externally, and look thoroughly through it, and that’s what will happen.

“Whether it’s Gus or anyone, it needs to be someone. When you look at someone like Gus, he’s just a very educated person who’s got a bigger amount of knowledge than most in the game.”

Leilua magic cuts up Titans

0:43
Speaking on Macquarie Sports Radio on Saturday, Gould opened up some of the discussion he’s had with both McGregor and Johnston.

“Over the last couple of weeks, Paul McGregor, we’ve had a couple of conversations and he indicated that after their last game against the Titans, there would be an end of year review,” Gould said.

“Every club goes through a season review, it’s not unusual and it is part of your forward planning for the next 12 months … as the CEO Brian Johnston indicated, the review takes on more significance when you’ve had a disappointing year.

“Usually an internal review. Two or three years ago they had quite an extensive external review from an independent body and came up with a number of recommendations. I’ve read that report and it’s quite extensive and it’s quite academic as well. I would sort of disagree that not a lot has been implemented since that time. They’re doing a lot of things that were in the report, whether or not it’s been formalised or recorded for reporting purposes I don’t know but those things will come out of this review.

“It was mainly Paul McGregor saying that we just want an independent set of eyes and ears over the situation. They had a specific role I might play. I went and had a meeting with Brian Johnston this week about whether or not they needed this review, and whether or not I was the right man to conduct it as well.”

Gould said the Dragons players would have a couple of days off following Saturday night’s game before they return for exit interviews and physical testing where they’re told what to expect in the pre-season.

Gould will be taking the opportunity to talk to the Dragons’ staff and several of the senior players about the season with a view to helping the club ahead of 2020.

“I won’t be discussing with anyone about what I find in the review. That will be for whoever I have to report to at the Dragons,” Gould said.

“I may just end up reporting to Paul, I may just talk to Brian Johnston or both. There’s been no indication that I have to present to the board.

“This is not a paid exercise, this is simply a favour to a bloke I used to coach in Origin in Paul McGregor.

“There’s no worse place to be in an NRL club when you are struggling when you can’t see the forest from the trees and you feel like the world is closing in on you. I know what the Dragons are going through”.

Gould said people were focusing too much on the negatives and that he wanted to help the club build on the positives.

McGregor signed a new two-year deal earlier this season and Gould didn’t believe the coach’s days were numbered.

“The review has got nothing to do with Paul’s future as it has been described to me,” Gould said.

“There has certainly been no indication in any conversation I’ve had with anyone at the Dragons that Paul McGregor’s position is in doubt or in jeopardy.

“I think the whole review is about future planning and making sure the club can do everything they can to provide the right resources around Paul, his coaching staff and his players, to help them achieve their best.”

So what’s there to be excited about for 2020?

“Just to learn from didn’t work this year and grow and as a group of men understand that we’ve got to be accountable for the season we had,” McGregor said.

“In life you get obstacles in your way and you’ve got to make sure that you work through them. This year’s just been one after the other.

“We look forward to guys having a break. We’ve got some very good players in this team. We just need to make sure when we attack it, we come back as rookies and start all over again.

“I’m the harshest critic of myself. I don’t need anyone else throwing it at me. I need to look at ways I need to fix.”

This is an unpaid task I am performing for a mate to work out how to provide him with better/more resources.

Translated, it means I need to work out how many bodies I need to through under the bus to keep an admirer of mine from getting the chop.

This is a farce. No need for an external review of this type. We already have a CEO and Board that think Mary is a good bloke.

The presumption is Mary is not the problem .................

Reigning Dally M medallist Brittany Breayley will join her new St George Illawarra Dragons teammates in lining up against defending premiers Brisbane Broncos in round one of the NRL Holden Women's Premiership.

The NRL confirmed on Sunday night the Storm-Raiders and Eels-Broncos clashes in week one of the men's finals series would act as double headers to the women's competition.

Breayley, who left the premiership-winning Broncos this season along with Teuila Fotu-Moala, Maitua Feterika, Kimiora Nati and Ngatokotoru Arakua, will come up against her former side at Bankwest Stadium.

Broncos recruits and internationals Annette Brander and Raecene McGregor will also take on their former side the Dragons.

Sydney Roosters and the New Zealand Warriors will travel to Melbourne's AAMI Park for Saturday night's clash.

The confirmation means that the Warriors will host St George Illawarra at Mt Smart Stadium as a standalone fixture in round two, while the Roosters and Dragons will play at Leichhardt Oval on September 29.

The NRLW Grand Final will be played before the Telstra Premiership grand final on October 6 at ANZ Stadium.

NRL General Manager of Women’s Elite Program Tiffany Slater said the combination of new venues and standalone matches made for a brilliant second season of the Women’s Premiership.

“The Holden Women’s Premiership and the incredible women who take play are truly incomparable,” Ms Slater said.

“It’s wonderful to see matches being played in new markets as we continue to expand the footprint and number of females supporting, playing and watching rugby league,” Ms Slater said.

“The standalone fixtures at both Mt Smart in Auckland and Leichhardt Oval in Sydney are a natural evolution for the growth of the game and ensure the game’s very best women and their fans are given their own platform to showcase their talents.

“The pathway to the NRLW is getting stronger; the amazing athletes more skillfull and driven than ever before; and that is why I have no doubt season 2019 will be one to remember.

Tickets for the double-header fixtures with the Telstra Premiership Final Series will be on sale to Ticketed Club Members at 10am on Monday (September 9), while general public tickets go on sale at 10am on Tuesday (September 10) via www.nrl.com/tickets.

Tickets are on-sale now for the two historic standalone fixtures from NRL.com/tickets, with free entry for kids under 15 and adults tickets just $10.

More fans than ever before will have the ability to watch NRLW games with an increased number of NRLW matches being be broadcast live on primary channel coverage (NINE) across the competition in 2019.

All matches of the NRL Holden Women’s Premiership 2019 will be broadcast live on the Nine Network (NINE/GEM), Fox League, SKY NZ and on NRL Live Pass.
