I have looked for positives but we are actually losing touch with all the sides- who are even under origin strain as well as injuries- ie. broncos and panthers.

We play too soft and our halves are shockingly behind where we should be!

Come on parra fans - we need a change- Smithy has had his best shot and come up empty!!

He has a lot to answer for in all aspects-from recruitment, retention, style of play and halfback options!

Give me a break- we look hopeless even with 65% of the ball- thats a disgrace-no imagination nor class-

We have been patient enough!

patience?....man - do u know the meaning of the word?....not trying to have a big dig at you or anything, but u seem like a guy in a hurry - lots of posts with strong opinions, plenty of arguing, plenty of big statements.

i am at least happy we are competing in games these days....FAR better than a few weeks back....its a similar situation to last season - had a really bad period, got guys back from injury and put some wins together, but came up short in the end....unfortunately its looking more and more like deja-vu.

But we are at least active in the player market...Cannings was a good signing last season, but I think Riddell is a bigger prize - hopefully there will be a little more to come.

I don't call it patience - I just call it hanging in there hoping for better times to come. :?

Strider my expectations are to win a premiership!
We look to have no hope whichever way you look at it.
From 2001, its been a long downward spiral-excuses are for losers who use it as often as we do-look at Rossters when they have injuries and origin strain-look at the broncos-without Berrigan, Tate,Seymour, BBerrigan etc etc as well as origin duty-panthers with all their problems-origin,gower, campbell,Girdler, etc etc

And yet we have a couple of injuries and look lost and negative for too long now-

Anyway Strider, i make big statements when there are big problems-and we know what trouble we are in when we are paying $300 plus for a 50 minute player in Riddle and yet- our so called halves remain pathetic!

Hahah you arent a true fan are you then. No matter what happens i follow Parra, as a fan u must reralise there is 99.9% of things which your have no control of. Be patient becuase Parramattas timew ill come. Our halves are not patheitc. Dyjkes is out and Witt is down big time on confidence. I can almost guarentee that when the players get on the field a majority of Brian Smiths strategy goes out the window which may be caus eof a very technical game plan. However we must stay strong as supported and support your team.

I agree - I don't see us winning a premiership as things currently stand.

Spending $300K on a guy is at least trying to make some changes and go somewhere - acknowledgement that we need to do something to get things going....Riddell is a game breaker - I believe it will be worth the $s.

I also believe we tried to address the halves situation by pursuing Orford - yet he decided to stay put - not much can be done about that unfortunately....and to my knowledge there is no other half readily available.

So, we've just gotta be patient unfortunately.

I think going outside the club for a quality half is stupid. We have the talent and we just have to utilise this talent and develop them into the superstars they can be. Riddell is our biggets signing since Morris becuase in parra we rely on our hometown talent. But Riddell should surely attract bigger names with 2005 looking better if we do.

What is your problem Game First? a month ago we were getting thrashed by low quality sides, now we have had 2 narrow losses in a row against competition favourites and it's only now you're upset :?

We're also without 10 - 12 players at the moment. I'm still being patient, I don't know why you can't be able to do so as well. Support your club, we have good players and we have good quality young blokes coming up as well. I bet you wanted to waste 500K on a one season deal for Matt Orford.

Bloody hell if you lot are happy losing 2 on the trot because we are CLOSE, don't dare claim to be holding out to see the Eels in a good light.

Tis been 3 long shit years since we were where we should be - top 4. Siting here with 2 wins from our last 9 games saying you are happy is like being pleased at having a leg amputated!

Game First is right. Trouble is that people are now happy that we lead at halftime over injury depleated bug guns. And the coach is suddenly untouchable again. Some one even suggested they would be happy if we lost all our remaining games, as long as Tim Smith got a run in first grade! HELLO!!!!

I'll repeat. Parra have the resourced to be a premiership threat a la Brisbane, Easts and Cantrebury. I'm miffed that so may supposed fans are happy that we are NOT in that company! Give yourselves a triple!!!!!!

Misty I agree with all you say other than the part we currently have the resources to be a top 4 side. I think the poor decisions in the backoffice over the last three years has resulted in us being a middle of the pack team which is exactly what the results show. It is for those reasons I do not have unrealistic expectations of the team this year. In fact if anyone seriously thinks our current team has a snowball chance in hell of making this years GF then I believe they need professional help.

Am I content with that? Absolutely not and I hold the coach fully responsible for putting us in this position.

I disagree. The fact is our side has come a long way since those thrashings at the hands of Wests and Illawarra. Since then we've lost 2 and then lost 2 against 2 of the best sides in the competition. It's ridiculous to think that we can turn into a premiership threat in the space of a few weeks, especially when looking at our injuries. Anyone who expects that is kidding themselves.

We all know Parra have the resources and should be a top 4 side, and that isn't happening. However, if we're not going to have patience then what's the point? We're recruiting new players for next season, the current side is working hard on their teamwork. The fact remains that as long as the effort is put in, the recognition that there are problems which need to be fixed is aknowledged shows we're on the right step.

Parramatta will be a competition threat down the road, but let's face it, it's not going to happen this year. Best to be patient, enjoy the footy, and support the side. They'll come good down the track.

Penrith are no more injury depleted than we are. Injuries are no excuse. But fairs fair, if you are going to call Penrith injury depleted then surely we are?

Yep. Dumbest thing I think I've read on this board.

We're close enough to the eight if we're good enough.

Top 6 probably out of reach, but places 7 and 8 are up for grabs. If we get there, and we've got a full squad available, a first week upset wouldnt be out of the question.

Injuries aren't allowed to be used as an excuse - you have said so yourself - they were without their halves which in all honesty should have been our advantage. It was for the first 25 minutes but after our "talented youngsters" and multiple resources came on we went backwards.

We lack someone who will take the team and drag its sorry arse around the park..... in all honesty of the players that are available and those who aren't there doesn't seem to me that there is anyone who is capable.

They still put out a fairly decent pack though......

And isn't that something that Brian Smith said was lacking in Witts game, hence the reason he started the year in premier league....

They did but in recent weeks their direction of the forwards has been lacking. The errors that were attributed to Lewis - 10 in total showed how much experience they lacked in that area. On the back of the go-forward oprovided by Ross and Pritchard they were able to gain ascendancy and Roberts was able to knock us over.

Yes and truth be told he has played how many games at halfback in both grades this season?
