Souths won 2 after katinas took over. However, the important thing is that a new coach is installed before June 30, when player negs get under way. Souths are active, and their future looks better.

I'll concur with the end of season coach change, as long as it improves. Look, I keep coming back to the Roosters. Graham Murray took 'em to a GF. The net year they made the semis, and he was punted.

The following year they were premiers.

But this was a result of the already good work Murray had done and the player roster he left there.

Misty,

Changing coaches is fine, but we still are not a top 4 side. We just dont have the players. We bought forwards last season, but what we lack is a classy half and outside backs untill then we will remain in the bottom half.

Eels dude, I answered your second paragraph in my previous reply. Read it again. As for the 'what if's', that attitude for people who won't try to improve. What if I waled out the front door and got hit by a runaway flying saucer? Do you suggest I stay indoors?

With your attitude, a car would never get fixed. What if the new oil seal was worse than the old one?

Maybe you wrap your cat in foil just in case it will protect it from alien transmissions!

Now you're just being totally illogical. I think everyone agrees we need to improve. Why don't you put some faith in the players and coach we have? They're the ones that took us to the finals six years in a row. Sure, they didn't deliver us a premiership, but if that's all you're after then that's not being very supportive. It's ok to be critical of Brian Smith, but as long as he's our coach he deserves our support. And so does the side for that matter.

With your attitude a car would never be fixed either, it would be sent to the wreckers and a new one bought in it's place.

I don't think anyone should accuse anyone else of not being a true supporter! I'm sick of that crap. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion!
Alot of fans aren't happy. I am one of them. I'm not happy that were not doing well. Yes I support the Eels whether were running first or last & will always turn up at the games, but that does not mean I will just shut up & not say nothing when I think we should be doing alot better.
Look at the turn over of players since 2001. How can we play as a team when we turn over so many players? And letting go form players to buy the likes of Corey Pearson, Fui Fui & Wise Kateverata just amazes me! :?:
The sooner we get Laurie Daley to coach the Eels the better!

Thank you linesmen..thank you ballboys!!!

We should get together to talk 'letic. I have been thinking that for a while...would love to see it!

Like Ricky Stuart...has tasted premiership success, a legend in origin(this is qld'er saying this too), played at the highest level, one of the new, young breed.

Could do a lot worse.

Brian Smith won't be sacked because it's Fitzgerald who gave him the 5 year extension. If the club had to fork out 800k, it's Fitzgerald that would look bad.
So nothing will be done, Fitzi will just cross his fingers and hope for the best.

If Smith sees out his contract, I predict that Souths will finish above us in 2 years

I read somewhere the other day - and it was in regards to Fitzy, Smith and Hadley - but it applies to a lot of people IMO.

Now I want to make it clear this is not centred at anyone firstly.

The main point to come from the article was that the more noise people made (and this was directed at Hadley in particular) the more determined Fitzgerald was to hold on to Smith. I think this also applies to those of us who make the same noises. Its fairly obvious that Fitzy is particularly stubborn - maybe if the heat cooled maybe something might loosen his collar and the blood may flow to the correct parts of Fitzy's head. ;-)
