WeatherBald or Renshaw with Uzi it is. Konstas is rubbish

Labs as an opener can get f**ked. Selectors are cooked if they go there again. Which probs makes it a fait accompli
Never ceases to amaze me how often we find something that works then insist on changing it for some reason. Labs at 3 and pick your best opener to go with Uzzy, be it Renshaw, Weatherald, Konstas, Bancroft, Harris. Let your beat batsmen bat in their preferred positions.

Danger man and world renowned f**kwit Ollie Robinson has signed on to play for USYD.

Might sneak his way into the Ashes squad if a couple bowlers breakdown. Would love to see his offies in Adelaide.

Did you see Mosman picked Archie Vaughan in the twos?

Alpha. Uni should pick Robinson in fourth grade

The soap dodgers are constantly telling us how terrible our Top 7 are but their Test players aren’t looking too flash against NZ in these One Dayers.

Absolutely no reason for both Green and Webster to not be in the side but they'll do something stupid for sure.

Expecting Boland for Cummins. Labs in for Konstas. Renshaw/Doggett 12th man.

Labs will open and the rest of the batting order won't change.

They're going to name M. Marsh in the squad aren't they?

Highly unlikely

Just a media beat up cause he is in good white ball form

Both Webster and Green playing in their next Shield matches and Green is able to bowl

In a horrid situation both of them get injured, IMO selectors will pick Jack Edwards to plat at 7, Carey at 6
McSweeney or Patterson come in at 4..

Though I think bison will do well on our decks this summer (averages 47.00 v poms) he is 34yo, and gives us zero value post ashes..

I'd probably give Labs the shot at opening but this will also be Usman's last series so we really need 2 openers. I'd even be that ruthless that I'd replace him once the series is decided

Weatherald the surprise pick. But not a massive surprise. I've got my doubts about him but he gets a shot just like many others have.

Renshaw is hardly beating down the door. Everyone wants him to have a late career resurgence just like Martyn, Khawaja, Hussey etc but its in his hands. Ideally he will come good and be a 4-5 year test opener for Australia.

My pick:

Khawaja
Labs
Smith
Green
Head
Webster
Carey
Starc
Lyon
Boland
Haze

What the selectors will pick:

Khawaja
Weatherald
Labs
Smith
Head
Green
Carey
Starc
Lyon
Boland
Haze

no back up spinner is about the only surprise for me, the debutants have done well in shield cricket recently

Picking Weatherald over Renshaw is somewhat of a gamble given Weatherald is yet to play Test cricket — the 31-year-old could yet be left out if selectors move Marnus Labuschagne up to open the batting.

Bailey said Weatherald’s selection does not mean he is certain to make his Test debut or open the batting.

“What’s impressed us about Jake, if you look at his performances over the past 18-24 months, it’s been really solid,” he said.

“And then there’s a method there that we like and is complementary to those other players around him in the squad. He scores at a good rate. The way he goes about building his innings has been impressive.”

That bit in bold is pretty important IMO. I think that has been a directive from the coaches and selectors.

Evidenced by the selection of Konstas last Summer, the recent form/strike rate of Labs and even Smith IMO. We don't need a stupid bazball approach either. Just a slight lift in the striking.

Don’t think Green is up to being a Test number 3 or 4 at this stage so I’m happy for him to be at 6 and Webster is the unlucky man out. Would’ve picked Renshaw over Weatherald though and Fergus O’Neill deserves a spot in the squad too.

Missed to WI tests? Green did well on some very dodgy pitches.
He's the best young bat in Australia

Just from what they did here, the Poms look woefully underprepared with the bat... not sure they have much prep time?
