That's a pretty good Aussie team, looking forward to watching them play

At least we should be assured of one set of ashes.

For Robinson, who ended the previous Ashes in Australia under scrutiny about his fitness levels, having been last man out at Hobart to complete a 4-0 drubbing, this summer's contest also represents an opportunity to atone - albeit 11 wickets at 25.54 put him second on the England averages in 2021-22.

"There's definitely a desire there still, a hunger to put it right," he said. "I felt when I got back from that trip I didn't leave it all out there and I'd let myself down and the side down a little bit. So it's definitely something I want to put right and there's a few fellas in that position as well. So there's a lot of hungry boys this summer to beat the Aussies again."

Of his recent comments, he said he was happy to have fired the first shots in the 2023 Ashes phoney war: "I was talking to local radio but I was happy that it got out. I mean it's been happening in every Ashes series for years - Glenn McGrath says 5-0 every Ashes. We say 5-0 every Ashes. It's one of the biggest series we play, it only comes around every four years in England, so why not talk it up? Get it going, get it big and give the fans what they want.

"I think the cricket we're playing at the moment makes it such an exciting time to play them. We've been dominating teams in all conditions for 12 months now. In England we dominated, in Pakistan we dominated and in New Zealand we played most of the cricket for nine days and lost on the last day because we probably weren't quite there. But I think the way we're playing cricket, we feel like we can really stick one on them and win the series comfortably."

We should take any help we can get. That includes Candice going into bat for her husband.

Bancroft stiff to not get selected?

Bancroft Shield stats this season the best - already got LH openers with Warner, Usman & Head - if Smith & Warner have been forgiven for sandpaper gate - surely its time for Bancroft as well?

i particular like that Bancroft faced the most balls - doesnt throw his wicket away which would be a welcome change

Bancroft and Nesser unlucky, they had great Shield seasons, Nesser is also more than handy with the bat, and is bowling would suit English conditions to a tee

Not sure how Marcus Harris is there???

Hope Hazlewood is good to go, hasnt played too many tests last couple of years

Pretty clear he is not being picked for things other than onfield performance. He didn't even make the Australian A team. He was by far the best bat in the Shield and even did well in BBL. Not sure what more he could do.

I wish my work awarded mediocrity like the Australian Selectors do. I’d be CEO by now.

Bancheat can get f**ked. No way he's in the team after trying to throw the bowling unit under the bus for his actions, don't care if he scores 6 millions runs in shield cricket.

Name a squad for the whole series, not just 2 tests. Shows no confidence at all.

Squad is very light on fast bowlers.

Yeah it's pretty obvious that Bancroft's cards have been marked "Never to be Picked Again" - at least while the likes of Starc, Smith and all those others caught up in the sandpaper debacle are still playing and not retired.

Bancroft might be a chance at a recall when he's 40 or so, coast should be clear by then....

Granted he should be ahead of someone like Harris but he didn't take his chances. Lets not forget that Bancroft did get a second go while the little man was in charge.

Two tests in England 2019:

8 and 7 in Birmingham
13 and 16 at Lords

Only 30 years old. Still quite a few years ahead of him if he has the patience to stick around. Warner and Usman are about to retire.
