Just speculation 12 months out, comparing batting orders, although a fair bit will change.

Crawley v McSweeney. A draw although McSweeney could pick up some points (or be dropped). Crawley is bloody horrible on every level.

Horrible little ork v Khawaja. At his best Khawaja, although age might have caught up with him. Draw.

Labuschagne v Pope. Pope dropped to 6 as keeper v the kiwis so it's not a given he will bat 3. Labs has him covered although he is in horrid form.

Smith v Root. Tough one. Smith made a comeback century but Root has been consistently good for a long time. He may melt in the Aussie sun like last time. Draw.

Head v Brook. Head is our form bat. Brook at his best shades Head I think although he hasn't toured India or Australia. Draw

Stokes v Marsh. Both average about the same but Stokes has always scored runs when needed. Stokes by a bison's dick.

So 1 all.
Will be Green not Marsh.....well I f**king hope so

Would there ever be consideration of the Ashes ever going back to six matches, either in Australia or England?

Certainly precedent in both countries and two tests in a summer at either Melbourne or Sydney throughout the seventies.

People are crying out for international cricket in January. Big bash is just not fulfilling the need for a large segment of the market.

Crowds at tests against England and India are rock solid proven. Surely a sixth could meet demand.

Crawley vs Konstas (if he doesn’t grow up) will be quite the battle for the most exciting 25

Play the usual 5 and then someone for a 3 test series.

We need to be playing as many total tests as England. They have some very average players who are ending up with record numbers for wickets and runs. All due to simply playing more

I think 5 is enough.

If they go to 6 then Hobart will get that extra test.

But I think overall 5 test series is the limit you want.

That could work, and enable cities like Hobart to enjoy Test cricket.

But demand for the Ashes is now at incredibly high levels. It was as recent as 1997 that we last had a six-test series.

In addition, it is still a missed opportunity that we are not building up a five-test series against NZ on a four-yearly basis.

New Zealand are getting 4 tests against us in 26/27 summer here in Australia.

But with due respect to the Black Caps they havent fired a shot in 30 years against us in Test Cricket to warrant 5 tests.

Greentop in Hobart where it was 150 v 150 and they squeaked home is there only victory against us since 1993.

Crawley is trash he’ll fail as he has most of his career. Duckett is better but not much of a threat. Brook is the interesting one. Crazy Test record so far and looks the goods. Hopefully we can bring him back to earth with a thud.

Brook is a different beast to Duckett and especially Crawley.

Brook is a gun. I'm worried about him on our decks tbh. Perth a d Brisbane might worry him for bounce but Adelaide, Melbs and Sydney (at least majority in recent years) are f**ken roads
