Dylan Brown already following in this guy's footsteps, hyped up as the next Super Impose after 4 mins of NRL game time
It's funny how bewildered Sterlo is by kids like him playing a few good games and then thinking they're worth a million dollars a season.

The salary cap going up significantly over the last couple of years hasn't necessarily been a good thing for clubs when player managers are blowing smoke up player's arses.

I see Johnson went off with a torn heart muscle.

When the going gets tough, Johnson disappears.

A couple of years ago, Ash Taylor looked to have the world at his feet. Talent-wise, he has more than most halves in the NRL and racked up a mountain of try assists.

I've watched four Gold Coast games this season, including last night against the Tigers and their win against Newcastle.

The man is deadset LAZY. All he did was shovel passes out when he had the ball (which was not much for a halfback) and put in the occasional kick. At no point did I think he was going to take on the line or be a danger to it. Tyrone Roberts pretty much did everything with a high workrate (which is the same pattern of play as the other games in which I saw them play together).

He does not even look like a regular halfback. Pretty much every halfback in the NRL is ultrafit. I looked at Luke Brooks from the Tigs (who has half the talent of Taylor) and he is pretty much on the ball all the time with high energy (like most halfbacks in the NRL). Ash looks like he is in holiday mode taking the ball when he feels like it and just shovels it out anyway without particular thought to taking the line on. I'd bet his fitness tests would be the worst for halfbacks in the NRL and by a long way.

At first, I thought it was a strange decision to buy Tyrone Roberts...as he is pretty average. But compared to Brimson (good runner, not a playmakers asshole) and Taylor (no heart), he is pretty much the number one half there and essential to have.

Another factor....Jarryd Hayne. How much of a factor has he been in Taylor's form? Before he arrived at the Gold Coast, Ash Taylor was thriving and the team were playing great footy. Gold Coast truly have not played with any quality consistency since.

He is quickly shaping up to be the next Chris Sandow unless he hits the gym/training track and truly puts in. Gold Coast fans would have to be tearing their hair out with him.
Luke Brooks is actually pretty talented, problem with him is that he can't tackle.

I assume you havent watched him since the start of 2017. His defence is now impecable, I'd say he is easily in the top 5 defensive halves in the game.
Nope, once somone says your half can't tackle that is final and no matter how well they do from there on that tag will never go away.

JT never actually successfully made a tackle....ever

Not buying the whole "personal issues off field" angle. He's been dropped, and the Tits want to avoid the attention that dropping their comfortably highest paid player and one of the highest paid in the comp for poor performance would draw.

It's time to begin the discussion around performance based contracts, because this hot market of signing unproven players for huge money is spiraling out of control and that is money being tied up that players that do actually deserve it are missing out on.

Give these merkins performance based contracts.
Should be no different to any other 'business', cus after all, it's a business now according to every merkin under the sun.
Base salary, finals payments, bonus payments based on management by objective delivery.
Goal kickers have a accuracy % goal, forwards have an avg m per game objective etc

As a fan, it's sucks to see people perform when they are in need of a new contract and then turn to shit.

Titans don't have a whole lot of choice. They were going to drop him. Might as well see if time away from the game helps.

They got nothing to lose. Their season is already busted.
I was expecting better from the Titans this year. Even now they should be in the top 8.
