Ashton Sims

I just watched the highlights - I dunno what the hell the OP is banging on about??

The last play Sims looked stunned to have the ball and didn't know what to do, then a team mate basically pushed him over the sideline. He threw the ball and yelled, seemingly happy his team had won.

Tariq's leg is done. Looked sickening on the replay - his Tibia bone seemed to crack in half and his leg folded on itself. Probably the season for the poor bloke.

Us Brisbane fans will never forget. All he had to do was hold the ball for one f**king hit up

Still remember it vividly,. Will never forget the look on Locky's face when Inglis went over for the match winner.

There is a pattern here, opposition supporters hate him yet Cowboys fans are backing the bloke, and there is a bloody good reason why. Ashton actually gives a damn about playing for our club, and has given his best in every game he has played for us.

Whatever has occurred with Ashton in the past is of no consequence to me, for it is just that - the past. It is actually a source of amusement seeing all you mob still getting upset and judging him on things that happened years ago. The fact is, Ashton's passion drives him to good performances for the Cowboys. He has been a fantastic rotation prop, often gaining over a hundred metres from the bench. And now he has been called upon to start, he fills in admirably. He is not in the class of the best props in the game but I'd rather him over some others. The comparison with JWH is amusing, JWH's 'aggression' may be 'natural' but he's a rubbish prop.

As far as discipline goes, Ashton being poor in this regard is highly overstated, even by NQ supporters. He gets pilloried for the slightest misdemeanours, whilst others committing similar offences go unremarked.

He has played a vital role too in the development of his brother. It is no coincidence that Tariq developed so quickly whilst at the same club as Ashton. It should be evident to all how close the family is. And it is ridiculous to say he is somehow jealous of Tariq, the two of them had made each other better by being together.

I don't think I'm going to change anyone's opinion of the man, but nor am even slightly interested in doing so. I love what he does for my club and glad he has just resigned.

Since he left Brisbane for the Cows his aggression levels seem to have risen.

Sure sometimes that aggression may cost his team a couple penalties, but as we saw last night it also gains his team penalties.

Perhaps but he's playing better than ever. A bit of agro might be just what he needs. Actually makes me wish he was playing Wednesday night, even if only to stir the toads up. We could do with someone like that.

Is he one of the NSW brothers? IObvously Tariq has said NSW and I can only assume Ashton the same (not that it will ever come to that) - it must be Korbin who wants to play for QLD.

If any of you had watched Cowboys games apart from when it's the only option on a bleak Saturday night, you'd see tonight was his most aggressive game in quite a while. As someone mentioned he's given away f**k all penalties, including the two tonight.

It was obvious to me Henry reminded him he had to stand up with Scott and Tamou missing, he went about it the wrong way in parts but I can't fault his contributions this year.

Ashton Sims is a legend. One of the better value maniacs in the game.

Every team should have at least 2 players as mad as he or JWH, just to liven the game up.

I like him, he's really aggressive and I would take him at the Tigers any day of the week. Also his brother broke his leg in the same match, I would be pissed off and angry too if I was in his situation.

One positive is that his carrying on like a bit of a pork chop is something Hollywood will surely point out in his reffs review of the round meaning he is more likely to be penalised next Sunday which is just dandy by me.

Apart from that he is a decent player

I have no problem with Ashton Simms - a good career forward. I think a lot of his bad press comes brom being blamed by f*ckwit Broncos fans for that semi final loss to Melbourne in 2008. Simms was smashed in a tackle by Sika Manu, lost the ball and was blamed for the loss - very unfairly considering from memory Heather duffed up a few times with lost balls too.

I still think the best mongrel forward in the NRL is Brett White.

Fair point. Maybe the drongos should have bloody well defended their line, they gave up that try pretty meekly.
