Not a good start for socceroos.

We aren't over 100 in the world for nothing - the harsh truth!

Went & watched Oman V Kuwait tonight....crap teams... But enjoyable experience.

Socceroos played like normal....dominate the game & not get a result. Can't understand not starting Cahill!

Yeah, typical rotation crap. Didn't start Cahill,Kruse or Leckie. Only needing a draw to avoid Japan. Jedinak out through injury. Juric is out of his depth. Luongo vastly overhyped. There is a reason he is at Swindon. Thank God, Andy Harper not commentating on anything but soccer. Talks the Socceroos up like they are Barcelona. Be lucky to win this non event. Not a single current player in the entire comp of much quality. That includes Cahill. At his peak he player for Everton.

I dont know about that. That Honda bloke doesnt play for AC Milan for no reason.

Ki Sung-Yeung plays for Swansea who are a decent side (except for this morning when they were flogged 5-0 by Chelsea) and Matty Ryan was voted best goalkeeper in Belgium two seasons in a row and is wanted at Liverpool.

AC Milan are at an all time low, Swansea are nothing as is the entire Belguim League. Ryan was linked to Real Madrid this time last year. To be brutal, Western Sydney won the Asian Champions League. Probably 4th tier in England.

The. 3 players you refer to can play. But look at Berisha and Broich in the A League. Both look good. Berisha can't get a run for Albania!

Let's not get too worried. If we beat China , we play Japan who couldn't win a game in the World Cup. But did any Asian team. The Asian Cup is to soccer what the Ron Massey Cup is to League.just provides easy entry to the World Cup for Australia. Ange blaming pitch for not allowing them to play their normal brand of soccer. The brand that has us ranked 100. Look at some of the joke teams well above us and then ask what the Asian Cup means.

Scotland 36
Guinea 39
Cape Verde Islands 40
Northern Ireland 47
Trinidad 55
Rwanda 85
Cyprus 86.

Didn't even know Cape Verde have a team. Must be good 60 places above us. Don't be misled by fools like Harper. With our professionalism , infrastructure and attitude it's hard to believe we are 61 places below Guinea. What /where is Guinea anyhow?

Good point about WSW, the A League is probably one of the worst leagues based on quality in the entire world. I can't stand the Bundesliga mainly because its always Bayern Munich flogging everyone, the quality is high but its just shithouse. The Premier League is at least three or four or five teams competing at the top, same as La Liga and Serie A.

I love watching the Premier League because all the mid to lower table sides are competitive amongst each other. I enjoy those games between sides like Stoke and West Brom, teams that are never going to win anything but they put on an entertaining game.

Let's hope we see Ryan at Liverpool soon, he is a good quality goalkeeper and imo deserves to be playing in a top league.

Ryan continues to improve & impress.

A world class goalie is imperative - too bad we can't get a world class striker!

Ryan won't cut it at the top level. At least not in the premier league. Way too small.

Valid point. Although, keepers given too much protection by far. Casillas is the only smallish keeper who has done well in recent times. He is still a couple of inches taller than Ryan. Ryan has good distribution and obviously playing well in Belguim I think he might be a success. You can't touch a keeper.

Not so much the protection thats an issue, he seems a tough and confident guy who wont shirk contact. I worry about him coming for crosses and controlling his area. Seen a few flashes in the asian cup with him flapping a little at the ball in the air. Thats a big part of the english game and why keepers find it hard coming from leagues with a different style.

He could work if he is given time to find his feet and he's twice the keeper Brad Jones is I guess. Just got to find the right club.
