Nah, nothing like that at all. She isn't willing to commit to anyone (particularly if they aren't on board with her lifestyle + beliefs) and I'm not willing to leave Sydney on the "chance" that something may change between us.

Oh well. I'll always have alcohol and bacon.

Borderline hippie + in love with the water. She grew up outside Ballina hence the lifestyle. I can easily deal with the veggo organic stuff plus the need to surf 3/4 of the week, but mix that with the high maintenance required for her emotionally (her parents are shitheads, Dad more than Mum but that's not saying much) and her dislike (best word I can think of other than rejection) of my lifestyle + hobbies means things would be pretty ordinary in the long run. She wants me to return to Qld for New Years and beyond, but I have 0 love for the area and I'm not coming to live here just to hang out.

As for the outcome, I've been single since I was 20. What's a few more years / decades anyway?

doesn't seem worth it. Being different to your partner is good, but the good of that can only exist when the two of you embrace your differences. Cut your losses and move on

The give away was that it was cool for me to move up here to look for work (which I had been doing since I moved to the Gold Coast at the end of 2008) or to visit whenever I wanted, but for her to even think to visit Sydney would basically require a miracle.

I'm not sure that I can express how much that pissed me off when she mentioned that.

Differences I'm fine with, that's what makes every person unique.

2012 was an interesting one for me...seperated late 2011, had a 3 month relationship with a Nurse who asked me for a pre-nup because she reckoned that if we moved in I would try and take her for 50% if we split up !.

Dated a number of ladies who carried more baggage than any major airport.

The Nurse one was interesting because I had genuine feelings for her but she told me that she could not date someone with tattoos and also was pretty much looking for a credit card to date and have a relationship with !.

Next year...probably won't look for a relationship...if it happens it happens.

Yeah I made the mistake in dating a single mother earlier this year. Even after I promised myself I wouldn't go anywhere near them with a barge pole. The reason I felt I couldn't say no was cause a) She asked me and b) She was somebody I went to school with. I felt bad about it to be honest.
