For my recent birthday my missus bought a sexy maid outfit, sat me down in front of the Test match, fed me seafood (oysters, prawns etc) and cold beer and allowed me to have my way with her whenever and however I wanted.

She has proposed that we repeat the experience for New Year's Eve. She didn't even ask me what MY desires are for the night! What if I wanted to go to a party? What if I wanted to go out pubbing and clubbing? She just assumes she knows me and assumes she knows what I want.

There must be a way out of this nightmare.

What do you do when the girl you're dating - who makes you happy and you love spending time with - seems to alienate or annoy all of your friends?

My girl just rubs people the wrong way, so I'm basically the only person she has here. Not only does that mean I can't spend as much time with my friends, but also that she wants more of my time than I'm used to a girl wanting.

Truth be told, I'd stay with her indefinitely if she could make a few friends and lead her own life a little. I'd be scared to commit long term if it meant becoming a social pariah.

I think you should tell her. Be tactful about it, but just be honest. It is something she should be made aware of. Tell her how you feel about her and how you see the future given your current situation and just see where that leads.

I have become a really strong believer in honesty, it is a lot easier to keep up with and ultimately a lot less regretful than anything else

How long has she been in a strange city with no mates ?

She got here early October but her school is a good hour commute from my part of town - where all of the foreigners are. It's hard at the best of times to make friends in this city. It's got a very insular vibe to it that I haven't encountered anywhere else in my time abroad.

I'm hoping once winter ends the cold imposed lock-down that it has on us, we'll be able to force ourselves out of the house from time to time and actually make some new friends outside of the college I work in.
