The problem with having International and club teams at the same tournamntt is who do the players play for? Club or country? Leave it as a club competition.

Obvious solution would be to have countries pick their squads first, they are only 2nd tier nations so wouldn't take a whole lot away from the club team's strength.


Aboriginal and Maori sides might not reasonable though, if they got full strength teams on the park they would probably dominate. Maybe wait until the next round of expansion and replace them with 2 NRL clubs.

Id like to see these teams made up of players exclusively from the domestic comp.

It is only a 9s comp so its not that serious, but it would add interest, passion and a local feel for the countries represented.

Quickly going through the world cup squads, players who may not be able to represent their clubs would include Bukuya, Koroibete, Naiqama x 2, Sims x 2 (no chance Ashton would play 9's), Uate, Waqa, Segeyara, Costigan, Mead, Ray Thompson, Lafai, Leilua, Matagi, Milford, Moors, Ben Roberts lol: - if he had a club), S'au, Vidot, Winterstein, Feki, Fisi'iasi, Fonua, Hurrell, Langi, Likiliki, Manu, Taufua, Taumololo, Terepo, Tupou, Vave, Radradra, Nabuli. That's 35 (34 not including Ben Roberts) players and there would be a heap more. Some of those players would be the stars of their clubs 9's teams so it would weaken them

I'm all for an International 9's but it has to be a seperate tournament altogether, a hybrid of a Club and International event would just be ridiculous.

Great to see some clubs are sending their top players over, the event needs the top players to avoid being seen as un-credible and would put any future tournaments in jeopardy.

The Warriors have named their squad early...

That squad is a paedophile's wet dream. The speed and x-factor of some of those young players should offset their inexperience though.

Defensively I just don't know... real pity Mannering isn't available as he'd be perfect as our shut-down merchant. Hopefully Matagi, Lousi and Gubb will make up for this with their high workrate and relative durability.

It's a good chance for RFM, Fusitua and Lolohea to show what they are capable of. Hey and Maybe Tuimavavae could find his niche haha.

Really pleased to see Laumape and Hurrell there, as both these guys are insanely hard to stop even 2 on 1.

With some solid defensive forwards, beastly running backs and the evasiveness of Tomkins and Johnson we should be in with a solid shot.
