Storm and Dogs both copped it from the NRL. Must admit the Roosters look Suss for years. No reason to doubt the Tigers or Penrith is my view. Tigers cut Benji to keep Brooks and Moses. Penrith let Lewis,Jennings, Gordon and Coote go.

Souths is an example that gets me. I think Reddy is crap. At year start , probably rated Ayshford better. Yet Reddy plays ok for Souths. In fact fairly well. Reddy at the Sharks would've been a train wreck.

Another example at a dodgy cap club is Sam Moa. We had him and was a nuffie. Picked up by Roosters and looks decent.

I don't know what we do wrong or have any idea to be truthful. Much as it pains me to admit it,Opes was right. The culture is of losers. Go to Sharks for an easy time.

I didn't want Benji but it was thought he would join to play with his friends. Ennis will come to stay in the Shire. Who comes who wants to improve the footy team?

Place will fall apart when Gall retires.

That's my concern too webby. (When Gal retires) Sounds like he's had as much to do as anyone with helping recruit Todd, Lewie, Flash etc. Trouble is we painted ourself into a corner with the two-year window with our aged recruitment. If you look at the big improvers this year it's the younger sides.....Penrith, tigers, parra etc. I know we've been absolutely hammered by injuries but is it just a co-incidence that the bottom two sides (us and Newcastle) both have ageing rosters......young mans game imo.

yep & those Manly youngenss, Doggie pups, Storm foetuses etc etc

Storm is another case in point Reefy...... Big 3 encroaching on the big 30.... No-one fears them any-more. More likely to get injured as the body gets more fragile. Who here hasn't struggled in sport in their 30+ and ++ years. Was also talking about improvers too. Don't have last years table in front of me but think the three sides I mentioned were all bottom 4 or 5 last year but all top 8 so far. Manly were top 4 last year and dogs top 8. Only an opinion but throwing it out there. Where will we be in two years when 70-80% of our current roster are done and dusted?

So to make your point sound better, you halved Prior's contract length and halved Ayshford's wages. Who does that?

Unless Penrith get hit for exceeding the cap , they are operating within the same budgets as us.
Yet they are top and we are last. If the players you mention are cheap, must be we are paying too much for others or a coaching issue or both. Personally, Carney not worth 750k , Fifita had backed himself into a corner so not worth 650k. Maybe they are but in the circumstances we could have paid less. My old fave Toops has chewed over 2m from the Sharks too. What's he brought?

Disagree. If he plays either of the last 2 rounds last year he takes home the Dally M medal as the best player in the game.

The guy has battled an achillies and hamstring injury, and rushed back to the detriment of his body (and the defensive line)

People are quick to say he doesn't put his body on the line, probably because he was frightened of it failing him.

To say he is not worth elite money is crap.

Toups does not get used the way he should be.

Offloads to supports. Oh that's right we don't do supports.

I like the Toups.

Spot on. When fit and firing, he is amongst the elite. Trouble is, he hasn't been fit and firing for a while now.

If he has a failing body, it could be argued that's why he's not worth elite money.

i think our coaching and medical staff have alot to answer in carneys situation, and likely alot of others as well. our recovery periods are longer, and in certain situations, players are rushed back that are clearly not ready because of our recovery programs.

They had a program for that in place back in 2011.

When carney is fit and playing well he's easily worth elite money. We don't get to pick and choose when we pay him (we'd be saving some $ this season if we could).
