Well as a Panthers fan I wasn't sure where Tyrone Peachey would fit into things at the start of the season, as I rated him about on par with Matt Robinson and Adam Docker. But more because I rated them pretty highly based on potential. But since getting more game time he has quickly jumped both and IMO should be part of our full strength starting side.

[/B]11. Sika Manu
12. Tyrone Peachey
13. Elijah Taylor[/B]

14. Lewis Brown
15. Bryce Cartright / Adam Docker / Matt Robinson etc.

He has only played 2 strong games for us so far, but those games have been ridiculous and he has a spark in him that none of our other experienced players have. I think it makes us square for Wade Graham... he played some great football for you guys aswell and I think he will do so again in the future. He's not inform at the moment, but he's a class player playing in a side that is struggling. Once you get closer to full strength and start firing, I expect his form will do the same.

I don't really have a second team, but still being a massive fan of Gordon and Lewis I would love to see you guys turn it around and at the very least climb off the bottom of the ladder so that Ricky Stuart can win back to back spoons. Finals are pretty much gone already, but you can still ruin things for other teams.

That's the difference between Cronulla and Penrith- you sign players like Taylor, Manu and Peachey and Cronulla sign Matt Prior, Daniel Holdsworth, and Blake Ayshford

The difference really is in the intelligence level of Penrith Supporters & how they generally are far more intelligent than Sharks supporters.

Peachy $700-800k 2 year contract Would not sign with Sharks for any amount
Elijah Taylor $600k 2 year contract Would not sign with Sharks for any amount
Manu 450k 2 year contract. Would not sign with Sharks for any amount/not needed at that price anyway
Total value over 2 years $1.9 mil ($850per year)
Cronulla
Holdsworth $110k 1 year contract
Matt Prior $110 k 1 year contract.
Ayshford $250k 2 year contract

Total value ove 2 years $460k ($230 per year.)

Fucjjken idiot.

I don't remember you in here when Cronulla recruited well for 2012 and 2013.

Yes, this years recruitment was soured by an investigation hanging over us, but I doubt, severly doubt, that Penrith would be on top if they had our injury crisis.

Congrats on the ladder position though, very entertaining team to watch.

Good post mx. Think most people around these parts realise Peachey is a bit of a unique talent that we probably should have hung on to. Never really had a second side myself but will continue to take a keen interest in the pennies both because of the Peachey factor and the fact you play a good style of footy. While Penrith havn't beaten many top sides I feel that they'll be very competitive against them in what is a very even comp. (given a fair run with injuries). Good luck for the rest of the year.

Who knows if you're plucking these figures out of your arse or not Reefy.....my guess is you probably are.Tell me reefy.... Would you be happy for us to resign any of these three for any longer than their current contracts? Would be very surprised if Ayshford is on $125k by the way.

Put it like this, Reefy just awarded Peach another 50k rise. He started on about 250k and he is upto around 400k now. Sky's the limit.

Agree on Ayshford too. Reefy"s figures completely shot down last week. You can tell when he is wrong. Turns to abuse.

Don't think Prior is on a one year contract either. Could be wrong but my source was Matt Prior not a pennies junior.

Holdsworth 1 year deal
Prior 2 year deal
Ayshford on 250k per year. (not sure of how much was dropped in by tigers though.)

peachy was not let go. He would not sign, for any amount of money. Wanted out.

We are still about $Mil short of the comparisons paid across 2 teams 3 players.

who even does that?

Those signings aren't really comparable due to positional differences also. More accurate comparisons would be to our depth signings for last season:

Blake Ayshford = Wes Naiqama
Daniel Holdsworth = Isaac John
Matt Prior = Jeremy Latimore

Although those signings were also along with Sika Manu, Lewis Brown, Dean Whare, James Segeyaro and Mose Masoe. But all these signings came after making some massive decisions to get rid of players. Some being stars that left fans unhappy to begin with, but they ended up being the right decisions for the club.

Exactly. In your case however, they are backups. In our case, they are starting, due to injuries to 13 players.
We also got Ayshford because no other centre would sign with us. But if you lsiten to the forum Mongs, its because we didnt try.

Ok so Ayshford on $250k makes more sense (not that he's worth it) Throws all those figures out a bit. Can anyone give me some stats on how much game time Peachey has played in the last two weeks with the pennies as opposed to the last three years with us? Guessing there wouldn't be too much in it. Think therein lies your problem....Gus believed in his ability and paid him accordingly. We "supposedly" didn't have a position for him (which I don't buy by the way cause his versatility is invaluable imo.) No-ones saying he's a world beater by the way but at least his getting a chance to show his wares at the pennies.

So to make your point sound better, you halved Prior's contract length and halved Ayshford's wages. Who does that?

Unless Penrith get hit for exceeding the cap , they are operating within the same budgets as us.
Yet they are top and we are last. If the players you mention are cheap, must be we are paying too much for others or a coaching issue or both. Personally, Carney not worth 750k , Fifita had backed himself into a corner so not worth 650k. Maybe they are but in the circumstances we could have paid less. My old fave Toops has chewed over 2m from the Sharks too. What's he brought?
