No need to pick another all-rounder if we insist on picking Marsh. It was fine picking Green with him, as he makes the team as a batter anyway.

Move Smith back to 4, and then pick the best opener in Shield - if that's the 19 year old, so be it.

1-Uzi
2-Whiteman (smoky but strong technique and plenty of FC experience)
3-Marnus
4-Smith
5-Head
6-Marsh

Konstas has only played 5 First Class matches, he is greener than @AlwaysGreen's dungeon.

Might be a tad premature to chuck him in there now.

If we're gonna open with Smith/Labs/Head (not that I would) then pick Nathan McSweeney or Beau Webster IMO.

Genuine middle order bats, in great form last year and started shield strong, and can get overs out of both if you need.

There's a couple of Shield matches before now and then, so a lot can happen, but if he continues to dominate and outperform the competition, then why not? There's guys in the current team with less than 5 FC games before test debut, and many more examples over the years of less than 10 FC games.

Plus the tears from Victoria and WA as a NSW opener jumps the queue ahead of Harris and Bancroft will be worth it.

I was half listening but I think Tubby Taylor just said he would open Konstas with Khawaja due to the fact if your going to throw him in.

The impression i got behind the reasoning was have him in there with an experienced player like Khawaja that can mentor and guide him.

Or if you do it in 12 months time when both opening positions are unsettled and your still throwing him in the deep end anyway. And he might be stuck with a Bancroft or a Harris who are also trying to still prove themselves at that level.

Knowing our selectors they will just wait on Konstas, and pick someone else as they have this "pecking rider" type system where one has to work his way up the order to be next in line.

Labs was an exception to this and I think it played out well as he has been OK. I believe our selectors are way too conservative to pick a teenager.

Konstas at 19 against Bumrah is a no from me tbh.
Yep I agree keep him away let him develop for 12 months in Shield.

If his form holds up I have no problems picking him for the 1st Ashes test next year if there is a vacancy and the incumbents form isn't up to scratch.

Tbh a part of me wouldn't mind a Harris or a Bancroft against India. Watching them get torn to absolute pieces by Bumrah would be soothing for my troubled soul.

Starc wants to do all 5 tests.

I think its unlikely we get the attack through all the tests. We did it last year but everyone is another year older including Marsh and we don't have Green covering overs. Wouldn't expect baldie to breakdown this Summer but he did in the Ashes.

Its Abbott/Neser next both good with the bat too. That batting might end up being key for us. Boland for the MCG would be the other.

Well everyone is of course going to say they want to play all 5 tests.

If i recall last time this strategy screwed us over as the Gabba when Pant went berserk on a tiring attack that had no petrol left cost us the series.

Because Langer was too gutless to change the team and upset the apple cart.

While India through injuries had a fresh attack basically there B team roll through us on fresh legs.
