Mitchell Starc to leave South Africa early to watch Alyssa Healy in T20 World Cup final

Mitchell Starc is set to leave Australia's tour of South Africa early and miss the third ODI in Potchefstroom on Saturday to watch his wife Alyssa Healy play the Women's T20 World Cup final against India at the MCG on Sunday. Starc is scheduled to leave South Africa on Friday, and coach Justin Langer said that the arrangement would also give Starc a chance to "refresh" ahead of the series against New Zealand.

"It's a once-in-a-lifetime chance for Mitch to watch Alyssa in a home World Cup final and so we were happy to allow him to return home to support his wife and be part of a fantastic occasion," Langer said. "It is something we have been talking about for a while and, given Mitch has had a considerable workload in all three formats this summer, his heading home a couple of days ahead of the rest of the squad means he will have a chance to refresh ahead of our home and away one-day internationals and Twenty20 internationals against New Zealand that will wrap up our season.

We lack a decent middle order in ODIs. No one that can bat quickly without much effort and lift the run rate when necessary. We have a few guys who can do it for short spells which is why our T20 side at the moment seems ok.

Darcy Short over Travis Head as a middle to lower order player is dumb imo.

Our only real middle order blaster is Maxwell, on his day he can just about win a game single handedly. Problem is his day is a bit like Christmas - only happens once a year.
Stoinis takes too long to get going also, like Ashton tuner seems to be a one hit wonder.
Carey is a disappointment, but we still need W/K
Looking at the number of batting collapses happening in the BBL, how the hell are we going to get players to bat out the 50 when we're struggling to find players who can bat out the 20.

Not sure what the answer is because Warner is going to be retiring sooner than later. Finch can stick around, but can't accelerate the scoring anymore.

I guess Smithy won't be moving back to 6 any time soon, so that leaves Lab. Yeah why not. At the moment it's worth a try because what we're doing now isn't working.
Mitch Marsh at 6 doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. Another more miss than hit player.

Lab probably needs a few games to see how he goes. Like what happened with his test career here's hoping it starts to click for him soon with the ODI's
