Australia v India forecasts?

With MCG and Adelaide Oval being flat tracks, barring bad weather, both of these matches will be decided by batting (i.e. which batting lineup holds their nerve better in pressure situations. Australia capitulated last year in Adelaide and the test was already lost when we were down 3 for 2 after the first 10-15 mins. We also got obliterated for 98 in Melbourne). Although, in a rare exception, if there is any low clouds like there were on Day 1 of the Boxing Day test last year, this could give the pace bowling attack of whichever side bowls a sizeable advantage in Melbourne. However, if both teams bat sensibly, a draw is pretty much a guaranteed result at these two venues.

SCG will be decided by the battle between Nathan Lyon vs Indian spinners. Lyon has bowled very well in the short period he has been in the Australian side for. This will be his first big test: against the big four - Sehwag, Tendulkar, Dravid and Laxman. I will go as far to say that whoever wins this test will go a very long way towards winning the Border-Gavaskar trophy. I think we really need a second spinning option for the test, as I can see the spinners causing problems on Days 4 and 5. If Clarkey is fit, maybe he could repeat his heroics from the infamous 2008 test. This is an absolutely crucial toss to win, and whoever wins it must bat first.

WACA will be decided by the battle between our pace attack and India's. For me, Patterson is the key for Australia in this match, especially if the WACA pitch was anything like the one last year vs England. That was one of the most pacey WACA wickets for at least 10-15 yrs.

With SCG and WACA being bowlers wickets, the series will be decided by the results from these two games.

My predictions start and end with Tendulkar getting his 100th international century at either the MCG or the SCG.

And India winning 2-1.

India have 1 ton. Australia? At a guess.. 11? Unless you count doubles and triples as more. The coolest thing about this prediction is Shaun Marsh as the highest run scorer
