7 wickets for about 900 runs in 2 and a half days, that wasn't a typical gabba wicket

I thought there might be some life in the pitch late, but we have to accept it was a 10 lane superhighway of a road.

That fact will be used by the selectors to retain the same attack.

Disappointing pitch tbh as that is the one ground where you can almost expect a result and we also remain unbeaten there since the late 80's incredible record that.

Blame the administrators who want 5 day pitches for revenue..and then they complain when no-one watches it!

Has there ever been a 1/500 in test cricket?

Quick statisticians ... get to work
Couldn't help myself, being a stats man and all.

Had a quick look:
Sri Lanka (1st Inns) vs India, 1st Test, 1997-98. 2/615 (Jayasuriya and Mahanama) They came in at 1/39.

West Indies (1st Inns) vs Pakistan, 3rd Test, 1957-58. 2/533 (Hunte and Sobers). They came in at 1/87.

Sri Lanka (1st Inns) vs Zimbabwe, 2nd Test, 2003-04. 2/538 (Atapattu and K.Sangakarra). They came in at 1/100.

there could be others, but I doubt it.

SA v Bang 2nd test 07/08 2/514 (Smith and McKenzie doubles in world record 1st wicket stand)

Aus v WI 4th test Barbados 65 2/522 (Simpson 210, Lawry 201, Cowper 102) match drawn with the Windies 5 down and 11 short of the 253 needed to win after Aus declared 6 down and 4 down)

That along with today's effort are all the innings where a team has got to 500 1 down.

What happened to the Gabba pitch?? Played like Adelaide for the last 3 days... The wicket was a road but the Aussie bowlers were pathetic. As far as I am concerned we need to have both Bollinger and Harris playing for us to stand a chance in this series. Johnson and Siddle to be dropped and Doherty needs to perform. North will hopefully be gone if we lose the 2nd test or of he fails.

North would only be gone if they added Smith to the squad, which they didn't.

Looks like he's being retained.
