The more interesting decision for me is if Lote steps up (and he probably will) whether Mal selects him next year.....

If lawerence played for saints he would already have 10 test caps by now
Indeed, he would've benefited from decent coaching.

hahaha ahhh you have to laugh. One player from the premiers makes the Australian team. Darius Boyd... RLPA player of the year, near the top of the Dally M's, Clive Churchill medallist... can't make the 17. Sheens the coaching mega-myth will use the 'specialist winger' excuse but Boyd played on the wing for all 3 Origin matches.. ahead of Scrote Lote. hahaha fmd

So is Gidley getting undeserved rep jerseys so common place these days that it doesnt even warrant a mention??

Hopefully he can step up and perform the role that Daniel Fitzhenry does week in, week out for WT's (i.e sit on the bench and stay warm for 80 minutes)

The tigers had none in 05, they picked prince and gave him a token game.

I think it's a bit harsh for lote to come in over Boyd, but that's Sheens for you

Yes. Boyd played SOO on the wing for what 3 years now. Has Tuqiri even trained with the team Stupid decision

At least a case can be made that Lote has been playing well enough this season to earn a test jersey during the 4 nations, and against PNG would be the ideal one to give him.

I would have left out Morris instead and played Boyd, then likely played both Morris and Boyd against the Poms and the Kiwis (the games that count).

Gidley on the other hand is keeping out unquestionably superior players than he. Young, Carney, Farah, Soward and Pearce for starters, and there would be a dozen more behind them that are more deserving than Gidley.

It boggles the mind why he continually is handed rep honours despite consistently horrible performances in big games, and nothing more than reasonable form in club footy.

Nate Myles at prop? Over the Dally M prop of the year in Shillington?

The mind boggles.

Why would you play Myles at prop when he's been brilliant in the back row this year? Actually why am I even surprised, this is the same coach who tried to turn Bronson Harrison into a prop. Common sense doesn't come into it. Myles deserves his test jersey no doubt, but he should be in the back row or coming off the bench.

Oh and a massive LOL at Tuqiri waltzing straight into the side ahead of Darius Boyd. Boyd should have been the first player picked after the season that he had. Tuqiri has only been in camp for 5 minutes.

Todd Carney should be on the bench ahead of Gidley. Can play the same positions that Gidley can, and is a far better player in every single one of them.

And is that the most undynamic centre pairing you've seen for Australia in years? Certainly does nothing for me.

I know it doesn't matter too much given that the opposition is one we're expected to beat handsomely, but given Shines's posturing about how he was going to select a full strength team for the first game, some of the selections are mind-boggling.

Form is so temporary so if Boyd is playing well now play him. Spot on. I fail to see the need for a utility on the bench. Play Bird/Young in his place and you have a running forward. Worst case either one of them or Lewis can step into the Hooker or backs if needed.

It's not like he has carved up to earn an automatic selection. Can't even blame the coach as NSW does the same thing

From that side I think the teams pretty expected.

Boyd should be in for Tuquiri, no doubt. And Todd Carney, and to a lesser extent Robbie Farah should of been picked over Gidley. The problem is here, someone like Gidley, and really whoever plays is going to tear PNG, and other sides a new you know what. You could put another 30 players in there and they would do the same thing.

Matt Scott is the other one who is unlucky but I dont know who I would of left out to be honest for him.

Sheens would be hoping to use shillington and Lars in tandem off the bench which makes sense

doesn't matter where smith named Myles, he played front row all year

I'm no sheens fan but any idiot would understand these

I thought selecting Tuqiri ahead of Michael Gordon was pretty bad, but for him to make the squad ahead of Darius Boyd is absolutely ridiculous.

That said it's still a strong side. Absolutely amazing how decent the backline looks when you consider we have the likes of Inglis, Hodges, Jennings, Lyon, Hayne etc. missing through injury.

Listen, they're gonna stick about 80 points on them anyway, regardless of who is in or out......stress less guys.

It's not about winning... It's just the fact that the strongest side was meant to be picked, and that side should include both Todd Carney and Darius Boyd. Hell even Robbie Farah ahead of Gidley.

Sheens is a tosser.
