Let's face it, as great as some of these guys can sing, at this stage they're just karaoke singers. Sure some of them have been performing for a couple of years, but let's face it, if they were really so good, they would have been noticed, instead of having to wait for a TV karaoke singing contest.
No disrespect to these guys, mind you - I have a level of respect for what they're doing at the moment (I'd never be able to do it myself), but I won't fully respect them until they become the complete package, co-writing their own music, arranging it, and establishing an original piece of music as a hit, without Channel 10 plugging it in every single TV show.
Andy Warhol said everyone get's 15 minutes of fame. I tend to think of the Idol's fame as being measured with an egg-timer.
