No one complained when a canadian won silver for Australia in the winter olympics, who qualified through 3 years residency.

The Wallabies have plenty of Islanders - no one says anything.

I think it's wrong that Radradra can swap so easily. But he is just following a standard international sporting law.

The residency thing isn't an issue, its the swapping nations thing that bothers people and the fact that Fiji could've potentially be a stronger Rugby League nation.

I think Semi is the first test player to be picked on the residency rule, if not it probably goes back to Keith Barnes.

Anyways I defended papaliis right to play for Australia because he had already played rep footy here and his only connection with nZ was some junior kiwi footy and a letter of intent. FIFA doesn't even lock a player in over junior soccer.

Semi though is a different story. Swapping nations after representing a side as an adult and not a complete joke side like nrl players repping Botswana or wherever in the rl world so sides can be semi (heh) competitive doesn't sit great with me.

It's a tough one.

The residency thing IS!! the thing when it comes to Australia or England for that matter because the majority of the best players in the world have to move to either one to play! It's an unfair advantage and not helpful at all when Australia already dominates.. It creates huge issues because Sam Burgess under this rule is eligible to play for Australia, as is Jesse Bromwich as would have been RTS and so on.. If you start applying the residency rule and if playing for the aussies is seen as ahead of playing for another nation then the Australian team could be completely stacked!

The other thing is that with the way things are going there will come a day when Australia is not so dominant and some coach decided to do what Meninga did in Origin and start poaching NZ's.. Oh Wait.. it's the same guy as coach.. And the Kiwi's have won 3 games against them strait.. Hmmm.. this could be a reality really soon.. Add this on top of the lure of Origin and especially with the Islanders "Economic Immigration" and it's a real problem and the residency thing is a big issue..

Would only be an issue if international RL mattered, but it doesn't.

I'm happy for them to replace all the Broncos players in that team with another 5 people with cases like Semi's. Only reason players pretend to give a shit about it is for the financial gain they get for playing in this exhibition.

You say this every year. You are wrong again this year.

Dugan, Ingli$ and Fergusson are all joke selections.
Fergo and Ingli$ have been nothing short of terrible this year.

Dugan is the great backline move killer and blew it for NSW last year

Yea, what kind of idiot would care about representing their country against the best rugby league team in the world.

What kind of supposed rugby league fan isn't interested in watching the game played at its highest level?

Happy to let NZ remain the uncontested world champions of RL until the end of days (including when they inevitably revert back to getting flogged 40+ each game) so long as none of my teams players have to needlessly take part in the exhibition match.
