After some talks with the AMNRL the Jacksonville Axemen have been given the go ahead to secure the 2007 Grand Final.
At this stage the only thing that we are waiting on is the approval of the 1 of the 2 dates that have been chosen to be approved by the Stadium Management Company at UNF.
As so as we confirm that the Stadium is available we will make a full announcement and will start moving towards promoting this as a major event in Jacksonville and secure funding and media coverage for it.

Congratulations guys, sounds like you're gonna make a real go of it if you're already organising the exact venue. Hopefully your team makes the final, good luck with it all.

The pressure's now on Spinner for you to get the Axemen to the GF. Best of luck, if any team deserves a GF spot then it's the Axemen. I hope you can make it one of the truly memorable days in the short history of the AMNRL. Onward and upward.

yes - to make it a great event you have to be there on the day - or maybe the axemen can play a lead up game if you don't make the big one yourself.

AS much as we will be doing everything we can to make the game oursleves, we have also made much of the fact that it will most likely bring 2 out of start teams to the city of jacksonville and that should be at least 40 players and many fans. These are the numbers we are using the show the economic impact the this game can have on the city and we are hoping to gain local city and state support to host it every year.
Thanks you all for your support.

Also on a serious note the AMNRL should play thier All Star game as the curtain raiser again this year in Jacksonville.

This would give the fans a magnificent display of this awesome game, and will def be worth the price of the Ticket! I know that players who might not be on a GF team would love to play at an event like this. It would also bring another 30 or so players to the city of Jacksonville.

I can tell you, especailly now that (Jaguars NFL) football season is over, Jacksonville can not wait for the Axemen to take the field.
The entire offseason people have been speading the word about what a great time they have at UNF stadium on Saturdays watching the Axemen.
I'm sure the attendence numbers will continue growing and the Axemen will have a great homefield advantage. that would help get them toward the grand final.

Rugby League and Jacksonville are perfectly suited for one another.
It will become the Rugby League capital of the US. At least in community support, hopefully in championships also
Spinner had been active... i guess i need to get back on the forum to follow these developments.

Ill be drumming up support for the Grand Final around town. what events will be complementing the match?
any details will be helpful.

Go Axemen!

Things are looking good for the Axemen, if we only had more people like you guys running the game out here.

I think it's a great idea for the GF to get a set home venue and develop a tradition in much the same way as Manchester is the home of the SL GF and Sydney is the home of the NRL GF. People can then plan trips well in advance. Much better than finding out the GF venue a week before the game's played. Best of luck in your efforts Spinner.

its a good i dea to find the grandfinal a permanent home and im all for it in florida but one kinda large question spinner.
who funds the travel cost if two teams from the north reach the final?

no body gets payed to play rugby in the us so is it to be expected that players put up what could possibly be $400plus for a flight as you would have less than two weeks to get an airline ticket and it is in peak time for tourists.

i understand that your guys travel 6 away games in a year but you have a fan base which brings in money and you have sponsors that bring in money. all other teams want to aspire to were you have got the axemen but other teams just arent geographicaly placed in the right area to genrate this income.

This is the field, and the rugby teams use the locker rooms when they visit.

That's what you want, one of the worst things about playing Union over here was not being able to have a shower after a game, especially when you were playing out of state and having to drive a couple of hours home.

There are teams playing Union in the Chicago area, who were formed over 30 years ago and yet still do not provide post match changing rooms and showers!

Great work Spinner, congratualtions on the Grand Final and for raising the bar in terms of professionalism in US Rugby.

Pennpool;

That is something your team/organization should have been concerned with in the off season. You should have went out and got team sponcers and worked on getting money for your team. I know that this is hat Spinner has done with the Axeman, so they can travel. I also know the team I will be playing for in 2007 has secured enough money to make at least 2 trips to Jaxsonville. Spinner is also working on makng travel cost for teams cheaper then it has been in the past.

We are working on trying to get some reduced airfares to Jax and we hope that our talks with the airlines and the Jacksonville International Airport Authority will help with the Flights for the Grand Final. We do expect the traveling teams to fund their travel and accomadation but we are working on getting both a a low rate. We would expect the Airfares to be no more than $200 and the rooms no more the $65 for a double room.

I know we have a great situation with our deal here in JAX but I do not think that some of the teams in the AMNRL really don't do everything they can in regards to sponsorship. I know that there are many reason, such as work family, etc, etc but we all have to make a commitement to go out and get those dollars. Oneof the ways we got some money was get each player a sponsor. I think that each player could find themselves a $200 sponsorship from a company.

We are also trying to get a league sponsor to make sure that each team get some money from them. Hopefully $500 each. That would be a $6000 deal for some lucky business.

Lastly, This season we expect each team that travels to JAX to bring a full squad and have a full set of kit for all players. We are going out on a huge limb with our sponsors down here to pull all of this off. So we are asking for the support of all the visiting teams to show up with a full team and to look very professional.

You cannot have one without the other. Image and Professionalism is what companies are looking for when they put there name on anything.

And to comment on T'hawk. I would expect each team in the AMNRL to at least plan on having the money to travel and least once to JAX in case they make the Final.

THE IMPORTANT BIT = We meet with the UNF People this week and we will have the Grand Final Date nailed no later than the end of Januray. The reason for this is that it gives us 6 full months to market the game. We are going to promote it to JAX, the State of Florida. We will be letting every club in the UK know when it is, Australia, etc, etc.
The AMNRL is now at a stage that I think some clubs may have an interest in looking at some USA talent and by giving them so much time, there is no reason that they could not send scouts to this game. It will showcase the best the league has to offer.
THE NEXT BIG THING to happen to the AMNRL is to get one of our players signed to a contract to soem club somewhere in the World. We have had a couple come close but we need that one guy to "make it" and we will never look back.
