Well I see he got voted by musicrader as the greatest rock vocalist of all time recently and that even Slash said he was in the top 5 of all time. The guy can sing and is also a pretty damn good song writer too. Also a great frontman and on stage.

His band's popularity was brought mainly about by the death-spasm of glam metal. His supposed onstage charisma is largely reported to us by those who were at the time either drunken teenage girls or sober teenage girls, and those who are paid to ride the waves of what's fashionable in music in their writing.

He's a drug-addled egomaniac white trash poseur with no staying power who hates his fans and who has ultimately given very little to the rock canon except the everlasting warning to all that no matter how big you are, one day you'll regret wearing f**king bike pants on stage.

Indeed. A brilliant album and one of my favourites. They were, at best, little more than a one hit wonder. Their albums after Appetite pretty much sucked.

Use Your Illusions were pretty good albums. Have to remember obvisouly that the released a double album which was pretty daring. Could have easily condensed it to a single album and it would have been packed full of great songs. Civil War, Estranged, Novemeber Rain, Don't Cry, Breakdown etc. GNR Lies was a pretty awesome acoustic EP as well.
