This is nuts, hang on to two old blokes on the decline and cut two young fellas who can only get better.

f**king nuts.

Is the plan to have the average ago of the team 30 years old?

I have a major problem with Ayshford being shown the door. No doubt he's had an off season along with many others but he has shown that when the team is in harmony and he gets good ball how dangerous he can be, Reddy has never had as much ability.

If we had 2 gun centers and relied on NSW or Toyota Cup for depth i can live with that but to release him and keep Reddy or even Moltzen is not fair IMO. this clean out looks like a last ditch effort by Sheens to try prove he's boss and can be proactive.

If the Rumours are true and he loses his job this evening what good does all this do the new coach.

They need to free up some salary cap space to match Parra's offer for Farah...

Well, what the f**k have they been paying the blokes they've cut? Rep player wages? None of them are rep players. Heighno had to go to England for a start and he even got dropped from the Poms team.

Bad management.

Sign Blair for a fortune, sign old Kitey, re-sign Tuquiri & Utai.

f**k off all the younger blokes. If Farah goes, you blokes are in deep shit.

Agree with that scenario if Sheens stays. His culling seems to lack thought with replacement and some of his recent player extension of contracts and signings is, well, very strange. Reddy should never have been signed. All the more reason to end things now and get rid of Sheens and let a new coach reign over who stays and goes at WT in prep for the 2013 season before Sheens unbalances the squad more. Existing player 'meat market' is very bare of quality players and the Toyota Cup and State Cup players can only be expected to step up so much for 2013. Maybe WT raid England and the ESL for a signature or two for short term stints?

imagine what Ayshford could do in a good structured side with discipline in both defence and attack, not touch footy.
He will be an assett to any side he decides to join, and his pace is not that big an issue...thats what wingers are for, and he does know how to create opportunities for his outside men....Once again bad coaching steering the team towards 1 objective...hail mary passes and jungle football

If true that our salary sheets are in trouble it shows how much trouble the signing of that lump Blair was for us if the supposed $500k p.a is correct.

Signing Blair for those dollars was a disgrace. Pure and simple.

I don't even hate him as a player - I think he can slot in as a role player and he would be really good. The thing is you don't play role players top dollars. They don't win you games over the course of the season and they don't win you big games.

Kite is in the herald today saying he'd have to be offered double his current salary to leave manly.

Simple - stay at Manly we don't want you on top dollars. We should be offering him less than what he is on now but maybe give him another season.

I'm going right off Kite now. I couldn't handle another Blair on the team.

Sorry but that is Ayshford's biggest weakness. He could not pass go in Monopoly.

Average player. Overrated. No big loss.

None of these players we are letting go (so far) are elite players. They are all replaceable.

We have needed this type of cleanout for a long time, let's hope that Sheens gets swept up with the broom too and we can start fresh.

100% agreed. This is exactly what we need.

The issue with Sheens staying is will he pick the right players in the right positions. He has failed at this consistently since he has been coaching us. When he gets it right we do well. Hopefully he goes as well and we get a new start with no more long term contracts to coaches or players that are not guns.

If Sheens stays  and Ayshford goes, can only assume the 3, 4, 6 & 7 will be:
7 Anasta
6 Marshall
3 Lawrence
4 Siro - mentored by Reddy

Gee, Siro has had how many games? He's need a good defensive coach to help him in the off season, however, when will he be right to resume full contact training? Good one coach :sarcasm:

Ashford is like Dean Collis, loads of potential but just doesn't seem to be ever living up to it... 1 good season in 3, poor defence and not enough pace to be a strike weapon.

Hope the 20's kids can step up next year, as the cupboard is getting pretty bare, with not much left on the table to buy from.
That's the thing though, isn't it. We can go on and on about all the talent we've got coming up through the ranks (yes R2 I am looking at you) but when they hit first grade many of them just seem to stall. How could we possibly explain this?

Easy to bring young talent into a team that is firing very hard to introduce new talent into a team that is plodding along.

The irony is of course many on this forum have been pushing for change but when it comes? Always back youth as with Tedesco, Koroibete, Sironen, Woods, Dwyer and BMM.

For a variety of reasons, the only one of these players who can comfortably call themselves a first grader for the time being is Aaron Woods. Murdoch-Masila is borderline. Maybe that will change over the next year or so. Maybe it wont. We're still waiting for Ayshford and Moltzen, who were our great hopes around 2006 and 2007, to show us what they're capable of. Not to mention Lui, Lazarus, Miller, Fifita/s, Groat, etc... Would a change of coaching regime have allowed these players to develop beyond simply 'first grade ready', and to become more consistently 'first grade standard'?

Ayshford going...good choice. Heigno going ..good choice although Blair will miss his soft shoe shuffle dancing partner. Moltzen not signed...see ya Timmy. The team was stale, if the releases and signings all come to fruition we will have a fresh start next season. I think we are heading in the right direction so I would give Sheens another year. I like him as an ambassador but won't be too upset if he does go.

Simona was resigned on probably half of what Ayshfords on. Give him a crack, as a previous poster mentioned I wouldn't mind Siro having a crack at 3

Simona was playing right centre through the back end of the year and only changed out due to Hitchcox's injury in the semi
