He has more balls and loyalty than you merkins, that's why he can put up with it.

How does me asking him to ask questions of the ref mean I have no loyalty or balls?

I was there last night, witnessing Smith referee the game. I was there for every Sydney game this year.

But all of a sudden, asking Arthur to askquestions of the officials means I'm a ball-less mercenary?

What the actual f**k?

Because I wasn't responding to you. the reason you put a quote into a post it that it provides context. go back and read it again.

Absolutely he should question reffing decisions that don't make sense, I never said he shouldn't.

I was there too, the reffing was for the most part, abysmal. best word I can use to describe it.

This.

Also - how the f**k do Melbourne knock it on, and then receive a penalty?

Good I wasn't the only one who saw it then!

I am still baffled about that decision, that had them camped in there 20 at that stage that was a huge call early on.

Unbelievable it's like they wanna punish us even more, Cameron Smith is an absolute grub.

History shows that clubs at the bottom of the ladder always seems to get the rough end of the pineapple from referees. Unfortunately, we have to accept that we are now going to cop a bad rap.

If you are a referee and there is a side who are genuine premiership contenders, and a side on (potentially) zero points and you have to make a 50/50 call, which side has more to lose and will kick the greatest stink from a dud call? It should never be this way - but it is.

It's not like we were favoured by the refs before... We've always copped a fairly bad wrap from them if you ask me.

All good, ash. I thought you were talking about me.

Maybe it's me, but it seems to be more pronounced lately:

- the hit on Semi against Souths would have been a possible 8-point try if it was anyone else (history shows)

- the double movement last night would never have been given 6 weeks ago

Refs aren't costing us these games, but their agendas need to be questioned.

Does anyone think we would have been awarded the try (suspected double movement)? Would we have had a player binned for stopping a try from being scored (Souths on IDG)? Remember Norman's sin bin?

I don't think those calls would have favoured us, no.

Are you saying we are poorly coached in the ruck?
Besides 10 weeks in 09 I think we have barely won the ruck since 01.

The best we have looked for a long time was the first 6 weeks of this season before it all turned to shit.

Go to any teams fans forum and they all reckon their team cops a bad wrap from the refs, whether they are first or last.

True, but consider this:

* Semi is hit late and high in the act of scoring - bloke isn't even put on report
* Souths score off an obstruction - we've had half a dozen tries disallowed due to obstruction already
* Inglis takes Edwards out with an elbow - nothing done
* Storm score off a double movement
* Storm score off a blatantly forward pass - so much so that even the touchie shook his head and let out a wry smile watching the replay
* Smith is offside all game - not even a warning
* Souths were offside all game- nothing
* Storm knock-on, and then get given a penalty?

I mean, we are losing because we're not good enough, but uneven officiating is making it hard to watch the games.

You have just highlighted the calls against parra which of course you are going to remember, and thats fair enough, just like all fans will remember the calls that went against their team. You conveniently forgot about jennings huge forward pass to Semi (worse than the souths one) and the fact we actually won the penalty count 10-5 (i think) in that game.

Refs get stuff wrong for both teams. There is no conspiracy. League fans complain about refs more than any other sport. It's no wonder there are so many issues with ref abuse at junior league when the first thing anyone complains about is the refs in the nrl. That attitude filters down.

They are a blight on the game, maybe if they got the simple things right there'd be less to whinge about.

I don't believe in any of the conspiracy theory stuff but geez the standard of refs is at an all time low.

You'd be stuck for something to talk about though, my friend :)

I haven't really whinged about refs for ages in relation to us being dudded or anything. I've improved coach, can you take me off the list now? :D

I think they suck for everyone (except maybe the Storm, they are still allowed to get away with way too much) and f**k up simple decisions multiple times per game every week.

You may be right though, I guess.......

I'm not so sure. It's been pretty bad at times in the past mate.
I think the bigger issue is that the scrutiny of refs is at an all time high.

x 2.

I think it's a tough job. That doesn't excuse some decisions. But people should remember that not only is the on field ref looking from one angle.....they are at ground level and often with a bunch of big merkins getting in the road at crucial time.

There'll always be mistakes, and worse.
