I was bowling to my brothers mate, I was frustrated to I bounced him and got hit about 7 houses down the road, and over the house ours backed onto, over that road and into someone from the other side of that roads back yard. We never got that tenno back.

im a right arm leggie or offie (offies to lefties... etc.) and one time i switched it up to left arm orthdox, which i can land quite accurately. I deadset fooled my mate who goes to a sports selective with a gatting ball of sorts. The left arm orthodox drifted outside his leg stump (rhb), he reached for it like Gatting did... it dipped and spun across him and took the top of off. f**k i was happy. And then to prove it wasnt a fluke i did it again, but he knicked it behind this time.

Brothers and I decided to use a corker instead of a tennis ball. I smacked the ball at warp speed and managed to hit the centre framing of a sliding window. It his so hard it bent the frame. I saw my life flashing before my eyes.

Knocking 2 stumps out with one bail going over the fence was one of my highlights. We used to have a pretty big backyard at my last house, so the boundaries were like 30m and i managed to get the occasional century. One of my best shots was still going up as it hit the back fence on the full.

Another highlight of mine was winning a test match against my younger brother by 98 runs, followed by him breaking a plastic outdoor table setting in anger. He had 1 wicket left with 98 to win and i bowled him.

Edit: Just remembered another thing. Me and my youngest brother play the occasional 1 over (3 fast balls and 3 spin) game out the front on our driveway. Probably 30 metre boundaries again, and we usually get about 10-15 runs in the 1 over. After a terrible batting performance on my behalf, i was restricted to 4 runs off my over. I proceeded to bowl to my brother, thinking he'd get the runs off 1 ball, however off his 6 balls he only managed to get 1 run. He was fuming

Ain't that the truth every time I smash a ball and knew it was going straight for the window it was like watching a slow mo reply

Just to paint the scene, we used to play five a side at school, across four tennis courts, so there was a two tennis court boundary on the leg side and one on the off, with high netting. Used to play test matches over a week, every recess and lunch (excluding lunch on Wednesday).

Remember sharing in a 170 run stand for the first wicket batting through Monday, Tuesday, and half of Wednesday recess, then the captain declared to get a ten minute session of bowling. I then took 2/0 in the first over.

I think we won by an innings in the end.

Our school had the synthetic pitch and a ground was smaller then the kiwi grounds, fours & sixes came thick and fast, at times we had 3/4 of grade 6 males playing.

Too bad the other 99% of your deliveries are tripe (memories...you landing 3 balls on middle stump in the other nets lol)

Some stories:

1) Not very great, but probably the best memory I can remember.

In the summer of 98/99 (age 7) I went to my nan and pop's place at hervey bay.

Played some backyard against neighbours kids, when the sun was about to go fully down.

Was fielding at Silly Mid on and got smashed by a ball on my Cheek.

Bled pretty bad.

Now I know why it's called Silly Mid on.

2) In the summer of 97/98 scored 91 .

3) In the summer of 00/01 got on a hattrick twice in a day, neither succeeded.

more to come

Highest score in backyard cricket was 100* (had to retire on 100), just got back from holidays up the coast where, because of time constraints, we were playing you had to retire at 20, I hit 4 6's in a row to get 24* off of 4 balls, including a reverse sweep and a very unorthodox dodgy looking late cut (more like a drive really) over 3rd man. But hey, it was a bird who was "bowling" at me.

Surely you smashed some out onto the hockey field?

We took over that patch for a while, then reverted to playing in main quad...until the teachers put a stop to that.

Took 7/3 out lunchtime...jubilant scenes all round.
