Balmains Involvement in the Wests Tigers

There has been talk of the end of Balmain's involvement in the Wests Tigers for obvious reasons.

IMO

If Wests take over the running of the club than so be it.

However if Balmain don't have a say in how the club is run than the 'Tigers' goes with them.

Its a very large part of what makes the Wests Tigers and it came from the Balmain Tigers!

Call me a dinosaur buts its a fact and should never be forgotten.

Let Wests see how they go without the 'Tigers'. That brand comes with a cost and that cost is a say in how the clubs run!

Wests tigers is the future. Balmain made their bed now they have to lay in it. Getting Elias on board was the nail that bankrupted them.
Wests Tigers brand wont change so what does it matter? Anyone can run for all i care.

I don't care about Balmain's involvement. Its the Wests Tigers now and that is how it should stay. Balmain should be involved when they get their act together.

Another quality comment from moderator magnific. You're an embarrassment to the Wests Tigers forum.

What, were they handing out moderator tickets at the local train station.

No Balmain no Tigers, simple dipsh*t

Actually you are wrong. The NRL has repeatedly stated that the Wests Tigers brand is going nowhere.

I am a former Balmain fan and I don't give a f**k about where the money comes from. As long as Wests Tigers remain, I'll support them.

As I understand it Balmain have 2 seats on the board reserved for them but they cannot take them up until the Balmain side of the joint venture get their financial house in order. In the interim, it is the 3 independents and the 2 Wests. The independents will not alllow the Wests members to 'mount a palace coup' whilst the Balmain side are in limbo.

Of more concern should be a NRL suggestion / encouragement / offer to good to refuse if you have no sentiment, to move grounds / state etc.
In that case you would have cold blooded rationalists 3 votes and sentiment / tradition 2 votes.

One fo the sleeper issues that arises regularly in various forms around the Sydney clubs and the NRL is the standard of the grounds. It has been said that if there were only 3 or 4 grounds kept at the NRL standard around Sydney and shared by the clubs, it would raise the standard of the grounds and releive the clubs of the expense of keeping grounds up to standard. That could be a big danger.

The obnly real answer to your issue is for Balmain to get its act together fast. No more charletans with promises of easy money, even if they are linked to former club legends............

O.K. I'll take your bait dip sh#t.

My opinion is that "West magpies" have been crap since day one. They got booted out of the comp because they were crap, and if not for the "Tigers" brand they would still be the crap.

As far as marketability goes, that whole "Magpies" thing has always been weak as piss. It's old men, with old ideas who will be the death of this club.

Together West and Tigers have a chance to make things work, but it's geniuss like you that make me want to support the AFL.

You're a very good supporter of the club and respected.

And I understand what you mean but if the heart of the club is run by Magpies how can they brand the Tiger?

If the Tiger is to be the symbol of the Wests Tigers, than Balmain should have a say in how the club is run?

Looks like you may have already forgotten forgot where the Tigers of the Wests Tigers comes from.

Can you as a Balmain fan forget that? Because that is what you are essentially saying.

According to you Balmain had 15/16 years involvement in the Wests Tigers and nothing else!

2 things:

1) I find it hard to comprehend that Balmain were lent some money by the NRL & then told they would have no say in how it is spent, seems strange to me.

2) There was an article only this morning that Balmain are going to call on supporters for donations to help reduce there debt to the NRL. IMO this should have been done a couple of years ago, hopefully this will be successful & donations will exceed expectations.

I really can't see the Balmain side folding.

What's Collingwood got to do with any of this?

Collingwood knew some success back in the day. The NRL Magpies were, and are, perpetual losers. Known colloquially, and colourfully as "The Fibros", with no talent, no fans and no future.

Is that what you would wish on us?

I didn't mean to make you cry, but Maggott4Ever, you were trolling for a response weren't you?

Yeh the Magpie brand is not marketable and crap,no one would support it,but Collingwood Magpies has the highest number of members of any sporting team in any code in the country, they fill the stadium when ever they play,so your weak as p1ss Magpie is not so bad me thinks.
Me personally I would like Balmain to stay, but if they can't get their act together then so be it.

I must admit, I'm stunned you guys are pulling Collingwood out of your butts, if that's all you have to compare your supposed success to, then I'll give up on this argument.

"The Magpies" probably sounded pretty good in fifties. I suspect though that given a choice, most modern marketing experts would gag at the name.

But go ahead, fiddle while Rome burns.

You are a funny little man, so the Magpies were crap and Balmain Tigers were just so successfully - I think not.

Both were strugglers throughout the years, but that is part of being in a comp - can't be successful every year.

Still genius, I will let you live with your fading memory that the Balmain Tigers were the powerhouse side of the competition since 1908.

Better still donate your hard earned to the cause - it will probably go straight to bouncing Benny.;-)

But Tiger brand is so strong. Wait, tigers - Australia. Do we mean the Tasmanian Tiger?

Also we all know the respect the majority have for marketing experts, right up there with pollies and used car salespeople.
