Do Ya is my favourite but I love Living Thing as well. Big fan of In Old England Town as well.

Hard to think of anything i dislike from ELO but Secret Messages is my least favourite album of theirs and even though Out Of The Blue has some great tracks on it i found it disappointing after the brilliant A New World Record.

Eldorado is another album i love and their final album Balance Of Power is a guilty pleasure.
Have the album they did live in California on vinyl and its a cracker but havent heard it for years as not having a turntable set up.

I'm sure I've got that California live album as I downloaded their full discography. Have to pull it up and have another listen.
I love how Jeff Lynne just gave up after a while and started singing it live as Bruce as that what the audience would sing anyway. The actual line in the song is Groose which was a made up word.
Never knew that. I just assumed Bruce was someone Jeff knew.

The live album was called The Night the Lights Went Out In Long Beach.

Here is a link to all about Don't Bring Me Down including the misheard lyric ( which i spelt wrong )

Queen.

I would also love to see Brian May live too. When he last toured in November 1998 I was absolutely devastated - I was 6months too young to be allowed into the club he was playing here in Perth. It still hurts that I missed it.
Thankyou to whomever it was who bumped this thread (I could look, but I didn't..!). This takes me back to a time 3yrs before I got to realise my dream. Okay, it's not Queen with Freddie Mercury or John Deacon, but given one's dead and the other is retired, I never will get to see the full proper 'classic' band live.

But Queen, for who they are now, since 2012, 3yrs after I posted this, I have seen something like 27 or 28 times live in various cities and countries, and despite the huge financial cost, f**k me I have never regretted a moment. Still gives me the biggest kick being there, whether it's a few thousand crammed into London's Hammersmith Apollo, a packed out gig in Vancouver, or it's 85,000 at Homebush for their 20min set at Firefight Australia. It'd definitely be harder to do now, but I hope I'm not done yet!

That would be me mate. I've resurrected a few threads lately that I think deserved to be active again. You are truly a genuine fan of Queen. 27 or 28 times in various countries is true dedication. I would love to see Queen in the hope their set contained some of the Flash Gordon soundtrack (my favourite Queen stuff)

My first two Queen concerts (and my reason for finally travelling overseas for the first time!) were in 2012 at London's Hammersmith Apollo. The gig started when the lights went out, and a huge curtain that enveloped the stage was gently illuminated. Intro music began. It was the dub-dub-dub-dub beat of 'Flash'. About a minute of building up the tension / excitement exploded when the curtain dropped, stage lights blared, and Brian May blasted out a few chords of 'The Hero'.

After those two gigs, no other Queen concert I've attended has featured any Flash tracks.

But thankyou, Det.Wojciehowicz, for resurrecting this thread. Awesome stuff.

No worries mate. Threads like these shouldn't be allowed to die. As for the Flash stuff, I've been lucky enough to see all three Qatsi Trilogy films with Philip Glass performing the score live while the movies played. It would have been amazing if Queen could have done the same with Flash Gordon. I would fly anywhere around the world to see that!

You must have enjoyed, maybe related to, the film 'Ted'?!

Anyway, back on topic of bands we've never seen live but would love to, I suppose my next-in-line of unseen bands would be maybe Pink Floyd, Aerosmith, and Dire Straits ... but I'm not too fussed if I don't.

Sorry mate, I'm not getting the Ted question (maybe because I haven't actually seen it). As for those other bands, Dire Straits was the second concert I ever went to. It was when they toured and only did a couple of shows at the Enmore. Quite different to their next tour after Brothers In Arms had come out and they did something like 20 shows at the Entertainment Centre (which I also went to). That Enmore concert is still one of the best concerts I've ever been to.

The two main characters in the film 'Ted' are obsessed with the film 'Flash Gordon', and music from that soundtrack are littered through 'Ted' as well. I believe Seth McFarlane, the film's creator / writer, is a huge Queen fan.

Hence the reference.

Gotcha. It's just gone to the top of my must watch list then. If I had known the Flash Gordon connection I would have watched it when it came out.

Awesome stuff!

I've seen them twice in Auckland (May/Taylor/Lambert), and had tickets to a third show but didn't go as I ended up moving over to Melbourne. They've played once here since I've been here, but I gave it a miss due to funds at the time.

Sadly, I don't think we'll ever see them again with May having his stroke and being in his 70s.

I don't often go see bands live, I could count on one hand the amount of bands I've seen full concerts for. So it have seen the legendary Brian May and Roger Taylor...very lucky!

I saw OMD the other week. They hadn’t been here since 86/87. They were stunning. Was supposed to see them in 2020 but…

Depeche Mode haven’t been here since 93/94 - would love to see them.

Always wanted to see Talk Talk too.

Missed SOUNDGARDEN, Nirvana, STP and AIC. Would’ve loved to have seen 80s Motley Crue, Aerosmith. Queen at Wembley 86 is my holy grail for a Time Machine.

Seeing this thread title Soundgarden was the first one to come to mind. Had an opportunity to go to the BDO they played at (2013/14?) but opted out for money reasons. Similarly could have seen Chris Cornell at one of his solo acoustic tours in the mid 00s but whatever reason just never ended up going. At least I got to see him live with Audioslave in 2004, but not the same as all those classic SG songs.

Did get to see STP a few years before Scott Weiland died, which was awesome (had heard his voice could be hit and miss live, was definitely hit that night), and got to see the new version of Alice In Chains just before Covid which was awesome as well, but obviously not the same without Layne.
