I don't care about the result sniffle Snafu.

What I care about is that Rahim doesn't suffer any effects from what happened in the next 24-48hrs.

Can't blame the Bangas for not concentrating after that.

Thats true I hope he's ok, and you'd be the expert on head injuries. Frightening stuff indeed.

It is frightening, but it's also staggering how poor modern international players (with very few exceptions in any teams) are at dealing with good, well directed short pitched bowling - this IMO is a cost of 20:20 and ODI cricket, they want to race along at 4 RPO or more, and if they can't attack a ball often they are left in horrible positions - they look to attack, then when it gets dicey they often turn away

btw- Williamson averages 66.9 in the fourth innings of Test matches. Second only to Bradman

Yeah I saw that, pretty good given 50+ tests - more impressive than Don Voges being second to Bradman in Aust test averages

I'm still on this short ball technique - the near hysteria is weird - flat decks, big bats, protective gear for Africa, high run rates, big scores, big shots, etc... and now some are saying ban the bouncer!

Has everyone forgotten you don't need to attack that ball? Steve Waugh never hooked, many others never did - now everyone tries to and the get hit. They also now get hit on the back of the head - that never (in my recollection) used to happen to top order players (I vividly recall Gatting, Crowe, and Wright getting hit in the face without grills), shit even Lawson did...

Take out the bouncer out of a quick bowlers armoury and you may as well just bring in bowling machines set to bowl half volleys.

Blame the bowlers because our batsman have poor techniques and are all front foot plodders.

Steve Waugh did hook earlier in his career but he got out a few times on the hook so he put it away later in his career.

He survived a barrage of short balls in the Windies by ducking and made a double ton. He proved back then its not necessary to attack the short ball.

I agree that he's the most important to his team - NZ often has that as we seldom have more than one or two world class players - Dempster, Donnelly, Cowie, Sutcliffe, Reid, Hadlee, M Crowe, C Cairns, and WIlliamson were all likely more important to the NZ team than other greats (often better greats with the exception of Hadlee) were to other international teams - think the story is on the mark - Crowe was nearly crushed by the pressure, Hadlee and Reid revelled in it, Williamson seems to embrace it too

He's also in the ICC top 10 in all 3 forms, don't think anyone else is
