Bangladesh in NZ

Bangladesh are looking like they will score somewhere between 300-350...in some ways, more than they deserve. In other ways, less than they deserve.

De GrandPlod can't live off a debut 6-fer much longer and Santer isn't even bowling. What's the point to him again?

It's like we've decided we want two Mitchell Marsh's in the side because - f**ked if I know.

In terms of Santner, Williamson is very uncreative. He prefers his quicks to bowl 8 overs on the fly and hope for the best.

CDG isn't a test bowler. Plain and simple.

Why do we persist in bowling 5 wides?? God this team is appallingly ill disciplined.

Another leg side short ball wicket. I bet that stuff will work against South Africa and Australia!

Well congratulations NZ. There is no way anyone can expect Bangladesh to compete now after that savage blow to Hossains arm....really for their mental well being we should just call the game off.

Agree with the above. They have been extremely untidy and unprofessional all summer. Loose, both sides of the wicket, and patchy fielding. It's been covered up because of the results but realistically that's all it is - patching gaps in the wall with wet tissues. The luck will run out soon.

I feel very concerned with how they stack up against Australia and South Africa. Some hidings coming

This coincides with losing McCullum's captaincy, Williamson is a wonderful player but the collective attitude has shot down.

The worst part is we're wasting a rare period where we have enough actual talent to foot it with the best.

We've not been at our best, but just to recap we whitewashed Pakistan at home in a test series, and seem likely to whitewash Bangladesh in all forms - sure there are things to improve, but it has hardly been a disastrous home summer to date....

Yeah, the Pakistan result was particularly pleasing.

Jeet Raval giving slip catching practise. They're just dropping them though. Needs to stop pushing out so much. Good unrewarded spell from Taskin.

I think it is masking reality. Pakistan have been diabolically poor on their southern tour and somehow they gave De Grandplod 6 wickets, and then lost a test from nowhere. And frankly Bangladesh are still very much in their infancy so they should be fodder in these conditions.

I think Australia and South Africa will give us a comprehensive towelling.

I think the Bangladesh pace bowlers this morning are showing how awful we've been despite results. They're getting movement and they're at off stump. Our blokes are short and both sides of the wicket.

Sure, there are glaring holes - but at the end of the day we're just battlers, and we've beaten Pakistan at home probably more comprehensively than Australia did

Should we be battlers though? 2 or 3 years ago Southee and Boult consistently got players nicking out. They hit great lengths and swung the ball late. We took our catches too.

Ok, we still had issues. But my main problem is we are sloppy. I am still stunned at our complete inability in the limited overs series not to bowl a truck load of wides. It never seemed to be addressed and it's continued into the tests.

I think the bowling coach is a big issue - the bowlers have obviously regressed, and they're not too old - and presumably Boult's back injury has recovered - although having had a back injury I can understand how it might impact him regardless. And the fielding is terrible, I wonder if Rixon did some sessions with them LOL - I'd have expected that to have been good in this test after the last one

But yeah, I think we are perpetual battlers - aside from the late Hadlee era when he was bizarrely good and we had a very solid supporting cast, we've always been battlers - we typically have one to three world class players, some solid ones and a bunch that shouldn't be anywhere near test cricket - in the present team does anyone seriously believe Nicholls, de Grandhomme and Santner are test cricketers, perhaps Raval too... Australia are pretty much mud by their standards at the moment IMO but you'd only put Wade and Cartwright of their last test teams in that category
