As JJ said, I'd rather give Williamson more of a chance than continue any longer with Stewart or Elliot.

1- McCallum
2- Ryder
3- Waitling
4- Taylor
5- Styris
6- Williamson

That's a good top six, Meth. Pity selector Vettori wants to bat himself at 6 and Paddy is there to basically give him a pat on the back and little else.

I have a problem with the #7 concept, to be honest. Broom and Stewart, who have both been in very good domestic first class form are trialled extensively in limited overs cricket at 7. They're expected to either save us from 70 for 5 or belt a quick fire 60, or else they're no good. Both of them are top 3-4 bats for their province who are used to establishing themselves and giving themselves an opportunity. 7 is a spot where an all rounder should bat.

It should be

1 Top order bat
2 Top order bat
3 Top order bat
4 Top order bat
5 Top order bat
6 Top order bat
7 All rounder
8 All-rounder/bowling favoured all-rounder

Instead we have

1 Top order bat
2 Top order bat
3 Top order bat
4 Top order bat
5 All-rounder
6 Bowling based all arounder
7 Top order bat

Batsmen should be going in ahead of bowling options. I actually feel sorry for Shanan Stewart. He has performed very well for Canterbury for two or three years and is being asked to play as an all-rounder without any bowling responsibilities. The Australians often go with 7 top order bats with a couple of part time bowlers in their top 7, but rest assured, all the top 7 are top order batsmen. They're top four bats for their states.

With the current touring squad, I'd much rather see

1 Brendan McCullum
2 Jesse Ryder
3 BJ Watling
4 Ross Taylor
5 Kane Williamson
6 Shanan Stewart

If it's Williamson or Stewart who gets the 6 spot, I bet they'd feel far more comfortable batting with blokes who are used to setting up an innings domestically. The way they're structured at the moment, they might as well stick Tim Southee and Andy McKay ahead of Stewart in the batting line up just to make it more of a mickey mouse affair than what it is currently.

And the Aussies think they have problems...

Not convinced on the Watling fetish either... I am a bit Williamson fan... Taylor, Williamson, Ryder and probably Guptill is a long-term test middle order...

New Zealand came close to pulling off an upset against Bangladesh in the 4th ODI with Kane Williamson scoring a century, but in the end the Bangers were too strong sealing the series with victory. Hopefully New Zealand can at least get a consolation win in the last game.

Well done to Bangladesh. They will only continue to get better and they have won this series without 2 of their best players in Iqbal and Mortaza. Their fielding was excellent today as well.

Australia & New Zealand should get rid of the Chappell-Hadlee trophy and hereafter play off for the Mark Haslam - Jo Angel tuna tin.

Shakib Al Hasan was there. Don't need anybody else, maybe a few fielders.

Not sure what is is with us. The batting just doesn't get the job done anywhere enough. But then there is talent there, Taylor, Ryder, McCullum, Williamson now. Way too many 20's and 30's and no big scores regularly and a complete lack of consistency.

Is this the first time the Bangas have ever led a series 3-0? Maybe first time against a country other than Zimbabwe?

Anyways good on em. Good to see their continued improvement. I always had the feeling that they had the potential to be a very good cricket nation in the long term. They are in the situation now where they are probably 1/2 real good players away from giving most countries a serious shake. 10 years ago they hardly had a bloke who could cut it in the Sheffield Shield.

Williamson looks a talent, hopefully you blokes stick with him.

He is a real talent - been touted highly for a long time... biggest wraps on a young batsman since Martin Crowe...

But King Dan doesn't seem a huge fan yet... not sure why

To be fair, one of two things would happen with Mark Haslam under the leadership of Sgt Shultz Vettori, chief captain, brigadeer and selector of the HMAS Pinnafore-Hopeless. They would either try to convert him into a top 6 bat while leaving the likes of Williamson out for half a series, or Vettori would get jealous of another left arm spin bowler and ensure he was constantly twelfth man.

Mark Greatbatch would be having a great time. Sacked dubiously by Warwickshire, he comes back to be paid a coach's wage to be the bloke who says 'she'll be right, by the way Dan you're hair still looks cute and your glasses make you look gangsta DJish'.

Blokes like Taylor, McCullum, Guptill, Ryder and co who are all grossly over-estimated and grossly inconsistent need the iodine and wire brush treatment from a good coach like John Wright. Then again, in New Zealand, we don't have coaches anymore - we have Vettori and someone who is a mate of his who can give him an 'atta boy' and carry the team kit bag. No doubt we'll hear from Lance Corporal Greatbatch that Bangladesh are a great side and 'we're going through a rebuilding phase and it's going to take 24 months but we believe we'll be a top 7 international side again in due course'. I'm waiting for a food poisoning headline, it's a good excuse to have up your sleeve when you bomb out overseas.

Didnt they beat WI by a bit earlier this year?

Only 1 batter has stood up in each innings so far. Really dissapointing. I'm hoping Anderson can get a full season under his belt for Canterbury, and take the middle order/hard hitter who can bowl spot. Was Ryder injured?

And how was Bennett looking? got some ok figures, but took some tap. hes loose but bowls with pace and is young. How fast was he bowling?

Did you see the team the Windies had?? Floyd Reifer was their captain. You know, Floyd Reifer? Well, if you didn't, most of the world doesn't either. It was when the West Indies had a major pay-strike and pretty much their entire contract list sat out while the dispute went on. They had some real neville nuffies rock up for a gig in that series.
