Barba to Broncos

Surprise surprise.

Surprised Schubert signed off on the deal at only 350k.

Pretty sure had it been the eels, schuey would of wanted him signed for 600k.

f**k this game and the admin is f**ked.

Eels got screwed in that instance but this is a different circumstance. Plus if Barba had profited from breaking a contract the Bulldogs would have stepped in and put and end to it.

If the Broncos are paying him 350k, they have scored an absolute bargain. Basically legalised cheating of the salary cap after the Folau and Gasnier incidents.

Considering he was already contracted for the next two years for that amount, it's not really the same though is it ?

It's quite amusing really. A week ago, everyone was saying how he shouldnt profit by changing clubs on compassionate grounds, now everyone is whinging that he should be getting paid more.

If Barba's contract was up and the Broncos were siging him to a new contract then sure it would have been bigger, the fact that he is going across for the same money ( contract transfer pretty much ) says it wasn't about money. It's a damned either way with some people, first they cry he shouldn't get more than his current contract and profit from breaking his current contract, then when that actually happens they cry about it anyway.

Barba left for personal reasons to do with his kids, the fact that he left on the same money he was at the dogs shows this to be true, and all the media beat up about the whole situation and the fans having a dig are now proven wrong so need something else to whinge about.

oh and I don't disagree that the eels got shafted in the Folau affair. But that has nothing to do with this and is a completely different situation.

The dogs received a transfer fee. That amount, would probably of been the dogs biggest concern, not what barba was going to receive.

My point is, the game has become a farce. The usual teams receiving all the favoritism over others.

Despite us being a total mess, the eels have been royally screwed over all too much by the nrl, for it to be just a coincidence. Wouldn't be surprised if we were being set up for a merger.

Assume the dogs released barba, and the broncos were told they couldn't sign him for 350k, but could for 500k. Broncos tried juggling figures, but couldn't manage to fit him in. Qld reds come along and start negotiating with barba. Do u think shueey will then allow barba to be signed for 350k?

My point is, broncos were always going to sign barba, regardless if Schubert agreed with the figure or not.

No such thing

Spot the poster without kids or a basic grasp on time, geography or reality

well i was thinking a 3 way merger of the eels, tigers and sharks. that way we get the dysfunctionally run clubs run by a single dysfunctional board instead instead of having several clubs run by several dysfunctional boards. we can still have factions though so there'd be about 7 factions in the tri-merger but they can concentrate of damaging one club instead of three

He's probably on about $700,000 worth of third party deals.

Barba leaving the dogs is like that time when the dogs left the ARL

Cosmic justice

Also, the broncos have never been done for a significant cap breach unlike the dogs

His contract has been transferred with no difference except marquee player allowance and 3rd party deals tacked on.

In no way is this even similar to Folau.

Well clearly that just means their accountants are better than ours.

Are the thoroughbreds still in existence?

That would be Newcastle South Brisbane? St George on the Sunshine Coast? Have you been paying even the slightest attention to the story that's been going on since basically the start of the year?

you guys have great accountants. remember 2002? or how you got the 2002 squad shrunk into the 2004 salary cap and won the premiership, or have you forgotten you signed 2 internationals mid season last year?

Well clearly we needed an upgrade after the debacle of 2002.

Id say by virtue of the fact that Brisbane have never been punished for Salary Cap cheating to the extent that the Dogs have puts Brisbane's Accountants far ahead.
