Barba return hits major snag

THE NRL has banned Ben Barba from training with Cronulla in a major blow to the controversial superstar’s hopes of returning to the premiers this season.

Barba is banned for the first 12 rounds of 2017 after testing positive to cocaine during the club’s post-grand final celebrations.

Barba was released by the Sharks but was hoping to keep playing and training with the club and then sign a new deal for the second half of the season.

But because the club cut him, he is banned from training with the Sharks.

Barba has to train on his own for the next few mo nths, making it that much harder for him to maintain fitness and motivation.

“If the Sharks had suspended him or taken the 12 match ban he could have continued to train with the club,” an NRL spokesman says.

“However they terminated him so he cannot train with the Club.”

Nooooooot entirely sure how that's a "major" snag.... Considering our other "major" signature isn't done yet either.

Surely half of our late season spine can be training together :D

What bullshit. Its our f**king ground we can have whoever we like running around on it.

Don't those merkins at NRL HQ have stuff like next year's salary cap, DUI Raiders, another James Roberts f**k up etc. to keep them busy?

Pretty sure ive seen sally fitzgibbon training with the drags and shes not contracted - nor backward towards a bit of a blow.

Anyway...he doesnt really need to learn any fancy plays.

Seggy to Chad, Lewie decoy, Chad to Benny........try.

Exactly and costs the Club a heap of dosh.

They'll be glad to see the back of him.

I laughed when they were doing the pres season for all the teams in RLW and they had Mullen as the guy the team couldn't afford to lose.

I thought based on what recent stats???

I for one never thought he would be able to train with the team.

Of course that means NO ONE at any club who has players training that are not registered can do so doesn't it?

JOURNEYMAN NRL winger Daniel Vidot has agreed to terms with Gold Coast for a second-tier contract.

Vidot has been training with the Titans and it’s understood the former Canberra, St George Illawarra and Brisbane flyer’s contract has been sent to the NRL for registration.

Good question. Is Foran under a suspension?

In regards to Barba, when you get a drug ban, you automatically are ruled out from contact with the club / the sport. Isn't this an ASADA / WADA rule?

I don't get it. He is under a ban. Of course he can't train with us.

I reckon the Sharks didn't even ask but moley needed something to take away from the fact he completely missed Mullen the pill popper story.
