Thanks for the GF try and memorable 2016 Benny. Will be missed in our team, no question about it.

Time to move on though. Val Holmes straight into FB and now we have more money and cap space to lock him up long term. And J Bird too.

Onwards and upwards

Will always be grateful for Benny's contribution to our first ever premiership...in fact i doubt that we win it without him. Wish him all the best on his new venture. Like others have said - we dodge a bullet on having to pay him full freight this year. Extra cash should help us secure Seggy and really looking forward to seeing Val develop as a fullback.

Devastated.

Barba was the most influential player in any club last year - we don't win the comp without him.

No B2B without him! Holmes is not a fullback.....yet.

Ok so now we need a legit winger. Who replaces Holmes on the wing? Can't be Beale, he's a centre or nothing IMO.

Agreed couldn't have won the first one without him. I think this whole situation was poorly handled by Ben but mostly by his management - who supposedly have his best interest at heart. I can't see how moving to the other side of the world will be good for his mental health but can obviously see it will be good for his bank balance. Yeah Valentines probably not ready to start the year at fullback and Bennie was the better option, but this puts us in a stronger position to resign Valentine and Bird. Those two are the long term future of our club.

Good luck and Godspeed Bennie - Hope everything works out for you.

Supposedly the Nrl decided to allow us to start paying Benny in advance (during his suspension) but the club declined to do so. Guessing Benny and his family had big financial commitments and had no choice but to look elsewhere. Just a thought but is it possible that the Nrl effectively made us choose between Benny and Seggy?

Well it will definitely free up some money for a before June 30th signing.

Never know who will become available as the season progresses.

Im not nearly as devo losing Barbs as I was when we lost Carney and Barbs is my fave player by a long shot! I guess it comes down to the fact we finally won a comp.

All the best Benny, i always loved watching you play, especially in a Sharkies Jersey!

I'd like to know why the NRL sat on their hands and didnt renew BB's contract when he signed with us? Why shoot yourself in the foot and lose a star player of his quality to yawnion? OK it's a loss for our club and you could tinfoil hat the shyte out of it but surely he was a drawcard to the sport in which they the NRL supposedly "run"

f**king wankers.
