So you're the one to blame!!
Yep...we were talking about who was the guy who each team would least want to lose. A lot of teams, you'd pick their halfback as they'd be hardest to replace, but nah I absolutely think ours was/is Barnett.

Without a word of a lie, I just sat up straight at 4.15am and my first thought was 'Barnett is out for the season'. I don't know why I allow myself to have nice things, like the Warriors being in third, because it always ends this way

I'm well known for my positive perspective on things, but....the season's over.

Seriously though - we've been doing really well to win games with a squad that on paper isn't all that imposing. Our strength is our pack and in particular our two outstanding starting props. Barnett is not only our best player, he's the third key middle forward we've lost for the season/forever (Barnett, Harris, Walker). I know our NSW Cup side is stacked with serviceable fringe first graders, but I simply can't expect this team to keep winning regularly. Anything from here is a bonus - which sucks, because while I didn't really see us as a genuine premiership contender, the comp is so hard to call this year that you just never know.

This is where I am. I'm not really too gutted because we have kinda already exceeded my expectations post-Vegas and these things happen. Even with Barnett, I didn't really expect us to go all the way this year.

Look this is gutting but the reality is we weren’t gonna win the comp this year - I’d put us at 2007-2008 Warriors level right now, a team who can go a couple of weeks into the finals.
As good as Barnett is I don’t think that really changes dramatically - maybe we finish 6-8 and go out in the first week now, but we’re still odds on to play finals this year because of the wins we already have banked. It also give our young props a real opportunity to step up- hopefully next season it means we’ve got Barnett, JFH and Vaimauga/Ale/Stowers-Smith with good first grade experience.
