I appreciate every bit of info that is passed on from all the guys with contacts and know that they are not leading us down any path other than passing on what they have heard.

Exactly Kornstar: Circumstances can change as fast as the weather can change.

Great post... Totally agree with everything you have said.

Reported as rumours... dealings do go on but family circumstances, bonds with mates, loyalty to club, retirement (as in Barrett's case), greed, player wanting more money or an extra year or the opposite applies with club offering less $$$ and years, better deal comes out of the blue before dusk, delayed tactics/strategy fails, etc, etc, can change circumstances very quickly.....

How many of us have waited for that next Eels premiership... for Casper a huge dry period from 1962 to 1981 and an even bigger one since 1986...

Something smells fishy, so we only offer him a contract after he has anounced his retirement. Hmm maybe we will make him a offer he can't refuse !!!!

Basically said before the break leading into the sport that they were crossing to Parramatta for Breaking News. In the sport they cross to Weidler who basically just says that "Eels boss Paul Osborne to offer Barrett a contract, regardless of retirement announcement" and that was pretty much it if I recall correctly.
