The Australian Rugby League Board has today confirmed Cronulla's Barry Pierce as the chairman of the National Rugby League Board.
The Meeting confirmed the ARL's other representatives on the six-man NRL Board would be John Chalk and Bob Millward.
The News Limited representatives on the NRL Board are John Brass, Keith Brodie and Dr Merv Cross.
The NRL Partners, the ARL and News Limited, exchange the right to appoint the NRL Board Chairman on an annual basis.
In any one year one partner will appoint the chairman for the NRL Board and the other will appoint the chairman of the NRL Partnership Executive.
The Chairman of the NRL Partnership Executive for 2004 is Peter Macourt.
The Australian Rugby League today also moved to bring all junior
development programs, under the banner of ARL Development.
ARL Development will coordinate the implementation of the National Development plan introduced last year.
Already this plan, with Kids to Kangaroos as its major theme, has seen a significant increase in the number of junior participants, including 60 new sides in Newcastle and 20 teams in both Penrith and Cronulla.
"We are seeing significant benefits in all areas from the increasing cooperation taking place between the leagues," ARL chairman Colin Love said today.
"The coordination of ARL Development will only assist that even further."
