Very good movie. Liked it a lot. I was looking forward to it & although it was somewhat different to what I expected it did not dissapoint. Bring on Fantastic 4, Ghost Rider & Superman 5!

I agree with whoever said Bale and Cain were well-casted. This girl said Bale in the movie reminded her of me, for some reason. :-k

Top movie, my only gripe was Batman's bat-voice. Seemed contrived, forced, and slightly cringe-worthy. That aside, the movie was bat-tastic.

I hear ya, my only thought there is that unlike other superhero's who's only method of disguise is a pair of glasses, the Batman wants to seperate himself further by altering his voice as well...just a theory???

Saw it. Liked it. But the problem with Begins is that it didnt have the same entertainment value for me as Burton's Batman cos I was a really impressionable kid when my uncle took me to see it waaaaaaaay back in 1989. I thought Bale was good as Batman cos he bought a little bit more darkness and anger to Batman. Michael Keaton just strolled around looking scary and just having a really firm tone when he spoke bt Bale really put some feeling into Batman. Cillian Murphy was really good as well!

Loved the way it ended cos it pretty much set up the sequel...

See I think Keaton will always be the best Batman. Bale did do an amazing job, I think Keaton was better.

Didn't really get into the movie until he came back to Gotham. Didn't like the training at the begining.... liked the flash backs though.

I'm the opposite, Bedsy. I really enjoyed the first hour, to an hour and a half, fleshing out his character, but thought the movie dragged on a little too much towards the end and turned too much into a routine action movie, so I kinda got a bit bored.

*spoilers*

Anyone familiar with the old animated series or the comics would have picked Neeson as Ra's Al Ghul immediately, considering the character's not asian and he captures his look perfectly, so that twist would have been wasted on many viewers.

Scarecrow was introduced well, but far too quickly descended into the role of a lackey that was shunted out of view and quickly forgotten.

A brief cameo from Zsaz, another character from the comics and cartoon, but didn't do much.

I didn't really buy the League of Shadow's motivation for destroying Gotham City, seemed a bit ridiculous to me.

It's clear by the ending that they're disregarding the old movies, and planning to start up a new franchise in a separate continuity.

I sound pretty critical of it, but I did really enjoy it (apart from the last half hour when I was tired and had a sore ass), it's just my loyalty as a marvel fan shining through causing me to nitpick any dc properties, and hope they fail. :p

Read my mind mate. I too, whilst enjoyed this Batman, think that Burton's original is still the best.

The training, whilst was probably important, I felt was kind of lame, anyone know how true Begins was to the comic?

I thought it was the best simply because it concentrated on the main character, Batman, and not the criminals like other films.

And Bale is by far the best of the Batman actors. Batman is meant to be dark, disturbed and almost as twisted as many of those that he fights. Bale is the only one who has come close to getting that right.

I thought Keaton was better too. He was way more subtle with his dark/brooding side. I preferred Batman and Batman Returns to Batman Begins though, so thats probably why I prefer Keaton. Begins is definately third on my list though, and Bale the second best Batman.

I'm a huge Tim Burton fan so I think taht makes me abit bias. However I think they were just that bit better.

I thought cain did a good job in the movie though.

I'd love to see them follow it through with this series, and particularly Nolan, to Batman/Bane and the fallout with Azrael after that.

Would be great movies.

Dont worry Dread! Everyone is already signed up for the first of the sequels, they are currently in pre-production. Oh, Katie Holmes got dropped though.

Yessssss. Katie Holmes is no loss either.

I sort of wonder how they'll do the next one. This was the prequel to the original Batman I presume - will they maintain the continuity of the past films, or will it be like a brand new series? If so.. will we see the Joker again?

Some research answers my question. In the original Batman, The Joker killed Brucey's parents. This time around, it sticks with the comics and the killer is Joe Chill. So maybe we WILL see the Joker in the sequel.

Oooh good times.

Wikipedia knows all...

Wayne guards his secret identity well, as only a handful of individuals know of his superhero alter-ego, including Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash(Wally West), Green Lantern(Kyle Rayner), Plastic Man, Aquaman and Green Arrow. Then, of course, there is his butler who has to know about his secret identity. However, several villains have discovered his true identity over the years, most notably eco-terrorist Ra's Al Ghul, Hugo Strange and Bane. Fortunately, most of Batman's enemies have dismissed the notion of Bruce Wayne as Batman because of Wayne's apparent dim-wittedness and self-absorption. The Joker has had opportunities to learn himself, but refused them since it would personally rob the mystique of his enemy.

and further...

Lucius Fox is a fictional character appearing in Batman comic books by DC Comics. He was created by Len Wein and John Calnan, and first appeared in Batman #307 (January 1979).

CEO of Wayne Enterprises, Fox has the "Midas Touch", an ability to turn failing businesses into successful conglomerates. When Bruce Wayne's personal holdings were poorly managed, Fox was called in and brought a balance to both Wayne's private and business finances. In addition, he also manages the particulars of the Wayne Foundation as well while Wayne dictates the organization's general policies.

Many stories allude to Fox knowing the secret activities of his employer, and yet keeps it to himself..

Batman Begins is a complete restart of the franchise which takes absolutely nothing from the previous Batman movies by Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher and the movie made a not so subtle hint that the Joker will be in the next movie.

There's been talks about casting the Joker (Robin Williams, Adam Sandler, etc) but nothing is set in that regards. There's also whispers that Harvey Dent, who later became Two-Face, will be in the sequel as the new Attorney General replacing Carlton Finch who was killed in Begins now that Warner Brothers have scratched Katie Holmes (Deputy AG Rachel Dawes)from the sequel due to her taking away the publicity from the movie thanks to her engagement with Tom Cruise.

I've seen it twice this week and it's just awesome. REALLY can't wait for the sequel. My only gripe was that the 2nd time I watched it, I noticed the big wart sitting next to Bruce Wayne's nose... was kinda distracting. Katie Holmes was a dead weight in the movie, her nipples were her acting highlight.
