Well given that they've been around for nigh on ten years, they're hardly flavour of the month
so about the same time that Blink 182 got old and boring?

What I was getting at is for the most part fans of bands such as TAF can't view "emo/punk/whatever you want to call it" as fastly inferior and could never live up to your lofty expectations
this doesn't make sense.

To put it bluntly, I saw Brand New and they were brilliant...great stage presence and the crowd really got involved.

TAF could fart the alphabet and you'd still call them amazing. Brand New could put on the show of their lives and barely raise a "meh"

if anyone farted the alphabet, that would be amazing. However it doesn't stop brand new, sounding like every other emo band with no substance. While we're at it, i was around the main stage when anti flag were on. Now i used to like them back in high school, they were hardcore. I deadset turned around thinking good charlotte were on stage.

Blink never got old and boring.

Sorry I wrote that after about 30 hours without sleep...load of gibberish I agree. I meant to say:

"What I was getting at is for the most part, fans of bands such as TAF can't view "emo/punk/whatever you want to call it" as anything but vastly inferior and as such, could never live up to your lofty expectations regarding music"

Hmm...I suppose it would. But no, they aren't and to call an entire genre of music "lacking substance" is pure ignorance

Anti-Flag were brilliant.

My ignorence got me there I guess.

A kickass live show is always a kickass live show, even if it is done by a band whose genre does not appeal to me at all.

SWN are an example of this - I'm a hater of pop-punk. Regarded them as nothing but a Triple M band who finally learnt how to write a catchy song. But after their performance, I hold them in nothing but the highest regard.

In the fifteen minutes of what I saw of Brand New, nothing jumped out and grabbed my nuts like SWN.

Just an opinion.

I'm generally the sort of person that needs to know the band and some of there music before i get into it at a show.

I'd really recommend some of you guys who prefer indie to download brand news 'the devil and god are raging inside of me'. For me, it moves away from the punk/emo scene and really entrenches itself with more of an indie feel. I will definately get an arcade fire album before i comment on them, but would really appreciate that this conversation would have alot more worth if you'd sat down and listened to there latest album.

Im not having a go at anyone, but i really rate brand news latest work and think that if you spend the time listening to it you'll be pleasantly surprised by the offering.

Went to the Sydney show,

RATM, Spoon, Gyroscope and Dizzee Rascal were awesome.
Arcade Fire, Silverchair and Faker were craptacular.
Grinspoon, Operator Please and Hilltop Hoods were pretty good.
I enjoyed British India.
Caught the end of Kate Nash, wished I saw the whole set; she was awesome.

best band in this country:lol:   Sew me up doctor my sides are splitting. They are f**kin woeful these days. Frogstomp was good, freak show and neon ballroom had their moments (theres a reason the only song that got the crowd jumping was freak) but diorama was one of the worst pieces of sh*te released and young modern not much better. Their name gets them critical aclaim, not much else. Daniel johns is a mediocre guitarist with sh*t songwriting, just adds the synth of paul mac and that rubbish to the backing. I just cant believe how bad they got since their early days. And the vast majority of the crowd, even silverchair fans, could see how bad they were at Big Day Out, with daniel johns in particular who seemed high prancing about with his f**ken fake american accent thinking he is top sh*t. They were terrible.

Im still laughing at best band in the country.

And no, im not a 'westie bogan' as you loved to put it. I am however someone who enjoys listening to non wanky music played with a bit of passion. Im not even the biggest RATM fan but they were very good. Much better than the utter wank of the daniel johns show/silverchair.
Just out of interest are you a radiohead fan?

They played Israel's Son in Melbourne. Pretty much the only one the crowd got going for.

easily the best band in this country by the length of the straight and have the runs on the board to prove it...
they were unreal at the great divide tour..
i admit they were not impressive at big day out, yet i would say it was a poor big day out in total..
