Not at all - there are plenty of bands that are good performers live that I wouldn't like.

I was referring to someone like Bernard Zuel at the Herald as being a credible reviewer, as opposed to runatme who I would describe as "lacking credibility"...

Fair enough then. I prefer to make my own decision, and I will on Monday. All seems a bit wankerish to me, but who knows? I have been pleasantly surprised before.

What's more pathetic, RATM fans booing Bjork or someone basing their opinion to a show they didn't see off of 'credible reviewers'? at those people who think playing power chords with the occasional arpeggio thrown in equals musical talent too. You want to see some good musicians, go down to your locals' Jazz open mic night, you'll see 20 people that'll smoke most metal guitar players (there's exceptions, like Malmsteen and Iommi for instance) . I'm not even gonna get started on the idiot who thinks Paul Kelly ain't no good.

Radiohead fans always seem to be the snobbiest music fans of the lot, which is rich considering the only talented person in that 'band' is Jonny.

For the record, I'll be there booing Bjork loud and clear. You know why? Because she's a stupid f**king weirdo Icelandic bitch whose greatest contribution to society so far was mauling some Paparazzi at an Airport, the kind of performer who hides behind confetti and lasers to make people come to their concerts.

... And besides, Pearl Jam are indisputably the greatest live band in the world ;).

Dude...what has Radiohead got to do at all with this topic? Stay on topic for god sake.

So...why ruin other people's experiences because you are too bone headed to realise that not all 55,000 are there to see RATM? I understand that it is pretty momentus that they are playing in Australia again, however booing Bjork and chanting "Rage" during Grinspoon or Operator Please is not going to get them on stage any quicker and is only going to highlight how big a dickhead you really are...

As i've already stated, I think taking a review over actually being there is much more dickhead like. f**king rock journos suck don't forget. For instance, Rolling Stone gave the Dominoes like 2 stars before they figured God was in the band! Of course, not many would deny RS is a steaming pile of horsesh*t.

And anyway, you're a big Radiohead fan, and you always seem to have pretty lofty opinions on others' music (hypocritical for me to bitch about you bitching yadda yadda) so I find it HIGH-larious reading through the topic in regards to how good/sh*t RATM are, considering RATM smoke that sh*tty 'band' in all stakes. That's the key, that's the key! Triangulation of Crossfire. ahem.

As for ruining it, seriously, it's like Kasey Chambers (I would've pelted her with a can at Homebake), she don't belong at a BDO. Is she doing a sideshow? Go to that instead if you don't want the majority to voice their opinions in such a way. That's what BDO's are all about afterall. Besides, I'm in the wheelie section anyway, so I don't think it'll ruin too many real Bjork fans' experience ;).

But hey, you're a Knights fan (and PJ IIRC), so you know, credit where credit is due!

That tripe isn't even worth replying to. Radiohead...Kasey Chambers...what the f**k are you talking about?

For what it is worth, I have seen both RATM and Arcade Fire. I can judge for myself how good the acts are. I don't need a reviewer or some ignorant bogan to tell me what is good and what is not. You totally missed the point.

What I said was that Arcade Fire are universally recognised as a great live act and I stand by that.

Speaking of ignorant bogans...don't yell out during another act because you dont like them, or it is your ignorant opinion that another act doesn't belong there. You wouldn't like it happening to you...

arcade fire probarly one of the worst bands i have ever seen and bjork was painful

Your credibility from now on just plumetted.

Very disappointed Bjork has pulled out. Out of the entire bill only Rage,TAF and herself really excite me.

Bogans boo'ing Bjork doesn't surprise me, I expected and predicted it tbh. The moronic, narrow minded, Southern Cross tattoo crowd doubles every year.

Seriously, you are all uncultured f**king bogans who listen to absolutely atrocious music.
 Radiohead fan again???
Someone is uncultured cos they dont enjoy music like the arcade fire and bjork? Blah

music should be about what you like generally. My personal prefernce is basically fast and fun, with minimal wankism in there. Hence i fuggin hate radiohead:)

It's not a dispute about what someone should and shouldn't like, it's 100% personal taste.

The problem is the the ignorent and naive opinions of those who do not respect talented artists outside their favourite genre.

I'm a staunch Radiohead fan, but like alot of artists outside their "genre" (if they belong to one) and respect musicians whose music I might not enjoy, but can appreciate.

People boo'ing Bjork is a perfect example.

It's a sad truth of the Australian music scene.

Bjork cancels Sydney Big Day Out show
Jan 24, 2008 10:18 PM

Icelandic singing star Bjork has cancelled her performance at tomorrow's Big Day Out festival in Sydney due to illness.

Bjork is one of the drawcards to the annual festival along with US rockers Rage Against the Machine.

A statement released by the Big Day Out organisers said the superstar was forced to pull out at the last minute after seeking medical advice following her Sydney Opera House show on Wednesday night.

"Doctors have advised Bjork to rest due to swelling of the vocal chords," the statement said.

"Bjork and the producers of Big Day Out hope for a swift recovery in anticipation of a continued Australian Tour."

The statement said Bjork was greatly disappointed by the news.

As part of her first Australian tour in 12 years, Bjork has already played the Gold Coast Coast Big Day Out as well as Auckland, New Zealand, and at the Sydney Opera House.

Big Day Out ticket refunds are available from the point of purchase.

Bjork allegedly attacked a newspaper photographer shortly after she arrived at Auckland International Airport on January 14 before starting this year's Big Day Out tour.

yeah i think most people were booing because they wanted ratm to hurry up. I respect bjork's music a lot more than many other bands that were there such as aussie alterna-crap like grinspoon or faker.

Just got home, a few things

Silverchair - So much better if Johns would stop talking so much

Anti-Flag - Highlight of the day...brilliant

RATM - Dissapointed...weren't nearly as good as the hype would have me believe

Brand New - Excellent...only saw half their set before leaving for RATM but they were great

My summary of day
Got there
we went over to the main stage but nothing was happening so went n watched british india for a bit, not my cup of tea but put on a good show.
Then went to watch something with number, copped the end of operator please (shut the f**k up) and something with numbers were worse than i expected, utter rubbish. from there went n saw a bit of gyroscope then friends wen to dizzee rascal i went to regurgitator which was one of my highlights of the day. after that found some other friends who wanted to see midnight jugganauts, they went in and the d was full the rest of the day, did not see them again lol, saw a couple of others i knew but despite best efforts couldnt get in contact with people. was kinda lame.
Anyway stood n watched a bit of grinspoon, enemy and ready 1 were good rest was sh*t, then went n watched bluejuice for a bit, came back and saw champion played, anyone know what they played between about ready 1 and champion?
watched hilltop hoods for most of their set they were good despite my usual non liking of hip hop they were pretty damn good show. caught a little bit billy bragg, went back n watched different parts of silverchair, they were f**kin woeful. Daniel Johns is a nobhead, the american accent trying to get people into it blah. f**k him off.
after that went n saw the hard ons, friggen quality punk set from them, nice to see a punk band playing.
Then went over and watched rage. Bit dissapointing, especially the start which was cos i was a long way back and the sound was terrible, and i could not see. Was better when i got into the top of the stands. pretty damn good from up there. Killling in the name of was unbelievable, watching the crowd during that was sensational.

After rage i went n chilled watching paul kelly then went to the bus and saw my mates again lol. Got home about 1:30
