I wouldn't say Adam has imploded with injury. This year he's been unlucky and the only other time was in the 2012 prelim. Apart from that he's been available so I disagree with your statement.
Adam cops plenty of tough knocks and everything and he isn't brittle he's a tough tough gutsy guy that's for sure.
Keary is carrying an ongoing foot injury with painkilling needles so you'd better hope Keary makes it to the finals.
Adam is a top halfback in the NRL and I rate him higher than Pearce, DCE and Johnson.
Without Adam doyen Souths wouldn't be making the top 4 the last 3 years as simple as that.
Imo you can't compare Cody to Adam, it's a bit silly. Adam is a premiership winning halfback and is a vital part of our team and how we perform.
Earlier this season Cody deserved a go but WOULD NOT have stayed in first grade as I have no doubt at all Madge would drop Cody straight back to Norths and rightly so when Adam returned.
If Adam gets injured in the coming weeks doyen I know you won't like what I have to say but it will be Sutton going back to 5/8. It won't be Cody.
At times doyen I feel like you're a bit harsh on Adam.
Adam is gutsy--no doubt on that score.
But he has had problems with his legs that goes back prior to his intro to 1st grade when he spent a whole season out with a knee prob.He has had a couple of problems in that area since.
I have been critical of him mainly due to lack of speed off the mark--probably due to previous injury.I prefer halves that have the speed & inclination to occasionally take on the line with some chance of success.
I rate Keary a better genuine half than Adam.
That is why I was eager to see Walker get a chance earlier when Adam was injured!!ie.instead of the retro step of JS.
I guess I've seen too many games where Adam's only approach has been to kick across field after the forwards"arse-upping" their way ahead under his guidance. This is not a positive approach--more lucky-dip stuff!
He has a very good kicking game[& I know that's important]in the "modern game"---but it is not all that impressive when rating the true all round ability of players.
I wanted to at least see Cody get a few games when Adam was injured so as we could all see his capabilities; but alas JS reared his ugly head again at 5/8.
If JS,for some reason, ends up at 5/8 come final's time our chances of going back to back will be severely reduced.
Cody, given a chance at dummy-half sometime in the future, is a good suggestion,IMO.
Adam has missed a fair bit of footy this season--the battered body doesn't usually improve over time--it weakens & becomes more vulnerable---so Cody needs to hang in for his chance--I hope it's not at Adam's expense but the chances are it could be!!
